The campground was nice, the views were beautiful. We just happened to have the worst campsite in the entire place. G102. It is terrible. Parking is a pretty deep sloped spot. The camping spot is on a rocky hill and to be honest needs to be redone. Everything about the site was awful. Small, uneven, mostly a hill.so uneven you couldn’t even put chairs by the fire. It needs to be scrapped and made more amenable or combined with another spot. You are sleeping on an angled incline with hardly any space to put a tent.

The campground is quite large. The bathrooms are older, but heated and functional with flush toilets and soap for the sinks. Showers are seasonally open at the camp store, inside of the men’s/women’s restrooms. They’re $5 in quarters for 10 minutes. It would be nice to have a shorter, cheaper shower option (like $3 for 5 minutes)

Campsite check-in was easy and ranger provided helpful map and information. The walk in sites had designated parking spots and the bathrooms were a short walk away. Each site included a bear proof container that easily fit a 55qt cooler and more. The camp store was well stocked with firewood and other camping essentials including sleeping bags and cooking stoves. The showers are also located at the camp store and costs $5 for 10 minutes. There are coin machines outside the showers. Doyle's river falls trail and blackrock summit are nearby and worth the hikes.

We always love Loft Mountain campground. Been going there for 25 years or more. The Shenandoah's feel like home. It is all dry camping with water, bathrooms and a dump station available. Very peaceful, much wildlife at times....deer will often visit your campsite. One recommendations I have is the pay showers are a pain to use. You must insert quarters ($5.00 worth) one at a time for a 10 minute shower. The showers had nice hot water but the shower/bathroom had no heat on and it was very cold. We were there this year the last week of October and it turned very rainy, windy and foggy, but you never know, the weather changes a lot up on the mountain. It would be nice to have at least electric and some internet/cell service but when you go there but you need to be ready to disconnect which can be a good thing sometimes. Overall Loft Mountain Campground is on the top of our camping list.

I didn't appreciate the nastygram left by the ranger for parking in what appeared to be a natural driveway, though not paved. As a usual backpacking camper, not car camper I made an honest mistake. If it was such a priority the area should be roped off.

We were at end of season and as a result it was cold, but we do love Loft Mountain. It's not as crowded as Big Meadows but has more support than, say, Lewis Mountain.

Pretty good campground that is close to the entrance. That means there are a lot of cars coming in on the weekend. The area was a bit smaller than we anticipated, but pretty flat. We originally wanted to use a tent that connected to the trunk of the car. Wasn't able to do that with the way the car was parked so we just set up the 6 person tent on the pavement. We could still fit another car in the driveway. There are campsites on either side that are decently close so you can hear conversations, but there's still some trees and shrubs between us for a little bit of privacy. The bear box was very helpful and large in keeping our stuff. Nearest bathrooms are about a 5 min walk away.
