Weather turned unseasonably cold, otherwise would have had a more enjoyable camping experience. Even so bathrooms were nice and glad to have showers. Really good hiking trails right from the campground. Really enjoyed all the history, excellent presentations in the visitor center, and the restoration of the gap itself. Underrated park relative to Smokies.

Very easy to access and set up. So close to all of the sites we visited. Loved the senior discount for those with a lifetime Senior Pass.

We love the camp ground, only thing i can't figure out is there is no hose to rise the grey and black water tanks out with there was earlier and also no hose to get drinking water with. Glad i brought my own water hose to top off the holding tank so we would have water. Other than that we had a great time,

My #1 getaway from Nashville.
Cumberland Gap National Historic Park Wilderness Road Campground has been a destination for hammock, tent, and rv camping for years. Campground is always well maintained. I prefer the new online booking system for planning, and a guarantee of having a a site upon arrival, or adjacent sites for family rendezvous. Like new t being requires to have exact cash and circle the campground after finding a spot to pay the cash box. Trailheads for hiking and cycling are convenient. Many local amenities . Tue town of Cumberland Gap is a favorite for festivals, Gap Creek Coffee House, Nineteen19 Bar & Grill for amazing cuisine, and Angelo’s for good craft beer. Pappy’s had a good selection of wine and craft beer . Middlesboro is a couple of. Ike’s away with major grocery stores and a variety of other amenities . Everything you need for outdoor adventure and convenience packed into a few square miles. Powell River nearby for paddling & fishing. Recommend Virginia State Park Wilderness Road State Park. Walk to the fort, and step back in time.

We loved our camping experience at Wilderness Campground. The size of the campsite is the largest of anywhere we’ve camped. The sites are private and everyone around us was friendly. The bath houses were clean and well kept. We went into Cumberland Gap and Middlesboro, both of which are close by and had whatever we needed. We love to stay at this campground!

Enjoy very much staying at this campground. Bath houses are VERY clean, and park rangers at this site are VERY generous. We attended a show on bats & their behaviors one night, and had a great time. By far one of our most favorite places to stay!
