We have been here twice now. Our last visit was the weekend before Halloween. It was absolutely beautiful filled with the colors of autumn. The animals there are healthy looking. Some places we have been to have had dear covered in ticks. That’s not the case with these dear. We saw one as soon as we pulled in, just before we reached the ranger station. You can buy firewood there in bundles for I believe $8 each. The staff were amazing. They are super nice and friendly. You get to park literally in a spot in the woods. We were able to get a class A in with no problem. I think all the sites are pull in (back in) except one pull through. We had a fire pit and picnic table. Please do be careful of leaving food out and properly dispose of garbage as there are bears here. It could mean euthanization of the bear. If you come across one, you just have to make a lot of noise. Not to worry though I wouldn’t think as there ARE kids. They can be more vicious than bears. Lol. Just kidding. People who camp here are friendly for the most part or they keep to themselves. Night time is peaceful. All you hear are the critters hollering. They have a really nice outdoor amphitheater. Again, it’s wooded. Only issue is that I’m handicapped so I couldn’t get down in there. They have a bath house. I didn’t use it but noticed several others doing so. They have a dump station for convenience. The roads are paved so you can get a wheelchair or power chair in. There are designated handicap spots. We have nothing bad to say about this place. It’s just a clean, peaceful area for those who like being surrounded by forestry. We didn’t leave expensive items outside without supervision. It may be completely safe to do so but I wouldn’t recommend tempting anyone just in case. There are rangers and we did also see a game warden come through. Love it here. I’ll definitely be back.

Wilderness road campground is one of the cleanest and most well-maintained campgrounds that I stay in. It's a great choice for tent camping.
