Highly recommend this camping location. We tent camp and the group site was perfect for us! We will be back again. Plenty to do near and further. Surrounded by breweries and wineries. Hiking trails are short but sweet. Can travel for other hiking opportunities. Fishing spots were good. Beach area was nice and clean. Bathrooms were always clean.

The group campsites were perfect for our needs. We especially appreciated the large field for group games, ample supply of picnic tables, many good spots to pitch tents, as well as convenient water spigots. The bathhouse was very clean.

We enjoyed the area down at Sherando Lake itself. There's a nice hiking loop around the lake suitable for children. The sandy beach was very nice and many of our group enjoyed swimming out to an island. We were there after Labor Day, so, while the gift shop was closed, the lakefront was much quieter than on the holiday weekend.

Our whole experience was pleasant.

The group campsites are a must for anyone with small children. It’s secluded with a massive open field in the middle so all of the kids can play without worrying about cars and they are always in your line of sight.

The actual campsite is massive. Giving you and your fellow campers plenty of space to enjoy and kids to run around and explore. The bathrooms were clean and showers well taken care of. Honestly I won’t ever stay at another site when I go to sherando. There’s a power hookup at the showers but we didn’t need it at all for our gear personally.

Sherando Lake is a beautiful campground and impeccably maintained. We rented all the group sites for a weekend and our host was very friendly and helpful. The only cleaner than the facilities was the park and trails. Everything about Sherando Lake is great and it is hands-down one of our favorite places to camp.

Clean, spacious, quiet, and volunteers were friendly. No camp host yet bc early in season. Bathroom was clean. Mostly left alone. Volunteers and ranger introduced themselves and waved when they passed by. Mostly alone on the group loop until the last night. Love the field in the middle of the loop. Sherando lake hike was lovely. Saw tadpoles in lake.

Very clean facilities & nicely kept campsites. My group camped the weekend after Labor Day and you could hardly tell! Our firepit did need to be dug out as there was a lot of ash in the bottom of it.
