About Fort Spokane

Fort Spokane Campground is a great destination for history buffs, birders and boaters, and the perfect location for travelers who like a combination of history and recreation. Visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, birding or taking in the scenery around the lake at this year-round campground. Located in the former guardhouse, located in the middle of historic Fort Spokane, the visitor center and museum are open seasonally, from Memorial Day to Labor Day of each year. During the summer of 2023, the Fort Spokane Visitor Center and Museum will be open Friday through Sunday, 11am to 3pm. These hours begin May 26 and end September 3. For an audio description of the park brochure, visit the Publications or Accessibility page of our website: nps.gov/laro Lake Roosevelt is a 130-mile lake of the Columbia River created by the Grand Coulee Dam. We reserved 2 walk in sites so our dogs had room to roam and no other campers were right next to us. At 90 degrees I'd say the walk in was a bit longer then the site states 😀. But the sites were great. Within walking distance of the river, had a nice trail (could be longer). Views were fantastic. Quiet campground. Lots of RV spots. Sadly we had evacuate on the evening of the 1st due to wildfires but our time there was great. Will be back.

We were evacuated after 1 day for forest fires. Received a refund for unused days before we were home. Outstanding location and people

Pull through site 11 is narrow and very curved with two trees bordering it making it impossible to actually pull through with our 29 foot trailer. We in and backed out when we emergency evacuated on the evening of the Fort Spokane fire. The sites are also pretty open and I like camping with more trees and privacy. Overall it was a good camping trip until the fire which had nothing to do with the quality of the campground. The swimming beach was very nice. I think I would camp here in late spring or early summer.

We love camping at the Fort Spokane, campgrounds, this year we had to be evacuated due to the fire across the river, which eventually jumped over into the campgrounds and did some damage. I thought the people in charge handled the evacuation very well, we’re very courteous.

We stayed in spot number 36 which had a great view of the water and a path leading down to it. There were a lot of RVs with generators running, there aren't electrical hook ups. It was a busy campground but very pretty.

Nice site, the water was a bit further away than I thought it would be. Wish we could’ve had a campfire but with the Pacific Northwest is on fire I understand and am not complaining.

Camping was very good with exception of shower availability if you don't have a trailer or willing to take a dip in the lake. Camp ground was clean and managed well. Generator quite hours was not long enough.
