Nicely spaced spots and well-behaved campers. Lovely spot by the river.

Very friendly camp host on site. Rangers drove by several times. Just very safe, we were able to spend time in the water as well as hiking.

for the past 20 years I have been leading a boy scout 50 mile canoe trip with our first night at the group site at Ft spokane it was a beautiful area and Tuesday our departure date it was usually available. This year I tried for 6 months to get reservation and the reservation desk had no answer as to why it was not available. we reserved site 35 and 37 in the back loop. when we arrived I spoke to the camp host who told us the government decided to make both group sites day use area only. My Question WHY? leave at least one group site open for groups such as ours. site 35 and 37 had sort of been field mowed but was mostly course grass, stubble no shade lots of dirt. Then the trail to the dock is steep and long and having to carry 8 canoes and gear for 16 people is not pleasant. with the group site you can walk 50 feet on nice grass and set in canoes in the water and load gear. 35 and 37 are miserable places to camp.
