Sites are clean and flat for tent camping. No cell service but you can find full network at paradise. Ranger programs were amazing.

The campgrounds were distant and secluded enough from other park visitors that you didn't have to worry too much about noise or such. They were clean. The facilities for water and washing were nice inclusions! Not too far from your campsites. However, the toilet stalls were sort of small, so I recommend a larger tent for your privacy when changing. But, otherwise they were usable.
The campgrounds are also near points of interest, and you can hear the Nisqually river nearby at night like a low rumble where we were located. But it was calm still. Very relaxing campground.

Our campsite was just great — cool in the heat, quiet at night. We attended a GREAT ranger talk about the night sky. And the ranger at the office was super informative about dealing with bears in the park — we saw a mother and two cubs on the Nisqually Trail. National Park rangers are the best. Mt Rainier rangers are even better. If you're tent camping, be sure to bring ice with you. There is ice for sale at Longmire, too. We hiked from Cougar Rock to Paradise, a beautiful hike. The low bush blueberries were ripe and delicious. And a visit to Paradise Inn is always a treat. We go to Mt R year after year. It's a sublime place to soak up the beauty of the natural world. We were able to charge our EV at Ashford (new chargers installed there) before coming into the park.

We had a great experience at Cougar Rock! The campsite had everything we needed. We slept in a sprinter van and didn’t use the tent space. Bathrooms were easy to access and clean! Great proximity in the park.
