Cougar Rock Campground offers a beautiful, serene setting with spacious and private campsites, making it an excellent choice for nature enthusiasts. Many reviewers praised the cleanliness of the facilities, including the bathrooms, and appreciated the helpfulness of the staff. While some noted minor issues like the lack of soap and close footpaths to campsites, overall experiences were positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Tiny little campsite (big enough for my 1-man tent) next to trash bins on one side and downhill from the bathrooms on the other; there was pretty constant movement and a lot more light in my tent than usual. Otherwise, nice campground! BUT--if there's no fire warning, be aware that they will cheat the PANTS off of you on wood prices: $15 for a tiny bundle (I saw $8 at White River Campground a couple days later). The attendant literally said to me, "It's cheaper outside the park, but most people don't wanna drive out and wait in line to enter again." Nice of him to explain price-gouging to me. It seems incredibly shortsighted of the campground/park not to offer fair prices if they don't want people to bring in their own wood from more than 50 mi away.

Only difficulty was when we tried to go up to Summerland from Cougar rock. As they are in different quadrants of the park a 'timed entry' permit was needed. Unfortunately there is no internet provider in the park, therefore no way to apply for a permit. Only way we could transit to the summerland quadrant was to rise before 4:30 AM and arrive before 7:00 AM at the summerland entrance.
Surely the park can do better for people who are already camping within Mt Rainier Park!!

Our campsite was great until it started to rain - all the water pooled under our tent and all around the site so there was nowhere else to move our tent. There wasn’t any way to drain the water off, and it was several inches deep by the time we packed up and left. E026 would be great for any trip that doesn’t have a forecast for rain.

Such a great campsite. We had D loop 9 and 10. A good combo for two families would be D10 and D34. Then you could pass through for bathroom access.
