this is an excellent location to explore the penisula side of olympic national park.
very dog friendly as your dogs are allowed to be on the miles and miles of beach below the campground as long a they are on leash.
the reason for the for the 4 vs. 5 stars is the D loop section we were on is directly behind highway 101 so it is very noisy. Also our site # 20 was a pull through which is normally great but this one has your rv door opening up to the busy road. And there is no privacy behind you and the next site on the other side. I would choose a different spot for sure, otherwise it was great

Clean campsite! Lucked out to get a spot right by the beach. We arrived around 8pm, and there were some open spots listed at the ranger station.

I went camping here with my boyfriend and we both really enjoyed this spot. We love how the shrubs gave us a privacy wall from people driving/walking by. The branches and shrubs were maintained allowing us to view the ocean and have enough leg room to set up our 10x8 tent and 10x10 canopy.
The view of the ocean was beautiful and the sound of the waves was very relaxing at night. We did notice a couple small snakes near the shrubs closest to the road, but the snakes didn’t bother us. Surprisingly, there weren’t that many bugs around us.
The stairs to the beach was only a 2 minute walk down which was very convenient for us. The walk to the restroom was less than a minute. There’s also a fish washing station, water pump, and the dumpsters near the restroom closest to the entrance of the campgrounds.
We would definitely come back! Seeing the tree of life was nice as well.

Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- The Kalaloch Ranger Station offers information during summer; contact them for hours.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Fees & deposits
- A valid Olympic National Park pass is required for camping and recreation at Kalaloch. The Washington State Park Discover Pass is not accepted.
Safety & rules
- There is a 7-day maximum stay limit during the reservation season, and a collective 21-day limit for all Olympic National Park campgrounds. Kalaloch is open year-round on a first-come, first-serve basis outside the reservation season.
- Use caution when swimming due to drifting logs; do not play on beach logs, especially during high tide.
- Always check tide charts when hiking; some areas may be impassable at high tide.
- Riptides are common; swimming is at your own risk.
Site capacity
- Most sites at Kalaloch cannot accommodate large RVs or trailers; check site details before reserving.
Vehicles & parking
- One RV and one tow vehicle are allowed per site if they fit in the driveway and do not damage vegetation.
- A maximum of two passenger vehicles is allowed per site, provided they fit in the driveway and do not damage vegetation.
General
- Campsites with ocean views fill quickly; book early. Outside of the reservation season, Kalaloch campground is open year round on a first-come, first-served basis (weather permitting).
- Visiting Kalaloch and Ruby Beach

- Campground roads are narrow with low branches; large RVs and trailers may have difficulty accessing campsites.
Fires & fuel
- Gathering wood is prohibited; firewood can be purchased at Kalaloch Lodge nearby.
- Do not move firewood; obtain it at your destination to protect forests from pests.
