What Guests Are Saying
Kalaloch is praised for its stunning natural beauty, proximity to the beach, and great accommodations, making it a favorite destination for many campers. Visitors enjoy the tidepools, beautiful sunsets, and clean facilities, with some noting the helpfulness of the rangers. However, concerns include the need for better maintenance of the campground, issues with broken facilities, and a complicated reservation process. Despite these drawbacks, many campers express a strong desire to return.

This is one of the most competitive sites I've dealt with. Luckily there are many, amazingly I was able to reserve one beachfront after 2 years. You can still see the distant ocean from many others that aren't beachfront.
We tried to get the same location two nights in a row. The folks who got one night arrived at 10 pm, set up half a tent, got drunk, slept in their car, and then left before 8am. It was a beachfront spot. People can camp respectfully on forest service roads nearby if they need a place to rest for the night and see the forest. If you're reserving a beachfront campsite for it's parking space, think about leaving it for a family who will be on ocean all day, watching their kids surf, or who will be exploring and appreciating Kalaloch for the gem that it is. Maybe those folks will come back sometime and really get to enjoy Kalaloch.
The staff was wonderful, the provided wood was pretty rough and full of knots, bring a big axe to use it, and the sites were clean. Awesome to have a merch nearby. Wish we could have been there longer. Please don't wash off sand in the bathrooms-- there are signs, but some people did it anyway and it clogs the sinks for everyone else and the hosts to fix. Get a bucket of water and rinse off outside. Bathrooms were getting new roofs which was great, they are taken care of and it's obvious that keeping this campground moving forward is a priority.
Check out the beach at low tide, walk all the way to each end. Tons of waterfalls, eagles, even a seal. Watch out for waves. Some cool things washed up from China and Japan. Remember to take a handful of plastic back from the beach. Kalaloch is nice with it's dumpsters at the front. Check out the Really Big Tree off the highway to the north. Seems like an underrated spot to see the oldest cedar that exists on the whole planet. Steep gravel road, saw some dirt bikers up that way. Beautiful wildflowers.
Kalaloch is within driving distance to Olympic for the day as well.

Very beautiful campground! Don't wash off sand in the sinks and please take back any trash from the beach. The beach is a wonderful place to enjoy and explore any time, especially the rocks at low tide.

Beautiful campground. Old and run down restroom. Easy access to the beach. I don't like the side parking but the camp itself was clean, flat, and usable. Would stay again.

Such a beautiful, ethereal location. The beach is stunning, the campground simple but well kept and spacious. Perfect for tent camping. Some highway noise but mostly drowned out by the ocean; great for lovers of white noise. I would caution to keep a close eye on children if bringing them; the campground is perched on a small but steep cliff and there is plenty of access to the ledge. Beach access is via somewhat steep and uneven stones, stairs, and logs and it is important to watch the timing of the tides because the water comes up the side of the cliff at high tide and tosses the felled trees about like twigs. Beautiful to watch but dangerous to be trapped in the water with. Not to scare anyone away; this is an absolute stunner of a camping experience; just be mindful (especially with kiddos.)

Overall we had a good experience but the men's bathroom sink was out of order and had a trash bag over it
