What Guests Are Saying
Halfway Flat Campground offers a serene riverside experience with good access to Mt. Rainier's Sunrise area, and affordable rates at $10 per night. Campers can enjoy a clean environment, spacious sites, and minimal noise from the lightly traveled highway. While some visitors encountered noise from inconsiderate neighbors and noted rough access roads, the overall atmosphere is peaceful, especially with the calming sound of the flowing river.

It was so quiet and pretty. The river is a little vigorous for a couple of 60 year olds to float, but the motorcycle ORV trail up the side of the mountain was pretty easy and afforded great views at the summit.

Lovely little campground next to the Naches river. I gave it only 4 stars as I'm not into off road vehicles buzzing about. That said, during the week, there were none, but on the weekend...wowzers. If you're into that kind of thing, I guess there are lots of trails going up into the backwoods. Only 8 sites, with good shade and space between. No hookups. Vault toilets. The camp hosts had not yet arrived, so we used thier sandy "beach" inlet. Otherwise, the river was moving pretty fast and not swimmable. We were there the week of June 13-19.

Nice, clean campground. Friendly, helpful host. Running water, trees, hiking trails-- it was a nice getaway!
We were at site 5 which is listed as a riverfront site: while the river is next to the campsite, we were disappointed upon arrival to learn that the campground road runs between the sites and the river.
Better signage getting to the campground would be helpful-- the one on the main road is pretty basic... the area is out of range for cell phone service, and the sign for the campground is small and easily missed. We had several lost campers who had no way to get directional help except to head back into town to make a phone call.

Great quiet campground. No showers, no electric..kind of primitive. Only 8 sites are reservable the rest is first come first setup basis. River was gorgous....THE CLEANEST BATHROOMS I HAVE EVER BEEN IN!!! NO BAD SMELLS AT ALL!!! Lots of ground squirrels so hide your food!! Bee's were VERY annoying when trying to eat but that is camping life. Long gravel road so don't drive a really low riding vehicle! Not a lot of swimming holes but a few nice ones! No cell service at all for us T-Mobile users. Did not get service until we went into Yakima.
