What Guests Are Saying
Halfway Flat Campground offers a scenic riverside setting with good access to the Mt. Rainier Sunrise area, making it a great choice for nature lovers. The campground is clean and well-maintained, with a low fee of $10 per night and ample garbage disposal. While some visitors experienced noise from fellow campers and noted the rough access road, many appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and the absence of cell service, ideal for an off-grid experience.

We have camped at several of the campgrounds in this area going out toward Chinook Pass. Halfway Flat was the worst of them! Road is only wide enough for one vehicle at a time and going around the turns you really take your chances that something is not coming the other way! There are a few wide spots to pull over but if you have an RV or pulling a trailer there is not enough room and you are taking your chances.
Also there is a section of the road where it looks like there was a rock slide down over the road and they tried to clear it up some but left it very narrow and the rocks are very sharp - sliced one of our tires on the sidewall! Very costly to replace tires these days.
Once we did get to our campsite it was ALL just fine silty dirt. By the time we left it was in everything! Usually there is at least some field grass or stubble of some kind but this was terrible - just all dirt! We won't be going back to this campground.

Loved it here! Only 2 negatives were no toilet paper in toilet and the water I pumped from the well was tan. It didn't look like it was drinkable, but I had my own supplies on both issues so they weren't a problem, just an FYI.

We reserved a beautiful spot by the river. We stayed for 3 days. On the second day the wind was unbearable, we could see the road and cars from the spot and the bathrooms got no attention, the boys had to use the women’s but they were both pretty bad. But it is a beautiful spot. We will try another campsite next time. Oh and Boulder Cave was closed. 😢

Wonderful sites with plenty of room. There is lots of shade and lots of access to the river. The bathrooms (long drops) were the cleanest I've ever seen at a primitive campsite.

It was so quiet and pretty. The river is a little vigorous for a couple of 60 year olds to float, but the motorcycle ORV trail up the side of the mountain was pretty easy and afforded great views at the summit.

Lovely little campground next to the Naches river. I gave it only 4 stars as I'm not into off road vehicles buzzing about. That said, during the week, there were none, but on the weekend...wowzers. If you're into that kind of thing, I guess there are lots of trails going up into the backwoods. Only 8 sites, with good shade and space between. No hookups. Vault toilets. The camp hosts had not yet arrived, so we used thier sandy "beach" inlet. Otherwise, the river was moving pretty fast and not swimmable. We were there the week of June 13-19.
