What Guests Are Saying
La Wis Wis Campground offers a beautiful setting with spacious, private sites, great access to hiking trails, and the nearby Ohanapecosh River, making it ideal for nature lovers. While some guests noted issues with maintenance, lack of potable water, and crowded conditions, many appreciated the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the overall charm of the campground. The location near Mt. Rainier and the peaceful atmosphere during weekdays were also frequently highlighted as positive aspects of the experience.

I have camped here many times and love the river here. This is the second year we have not had access to drinking water, which has been an inconvenience. The hosts kept the pit toilets very clean, but they still REAKED in the heat. I had to cover my nose and mouth when using the facilities. There needs to be parking closer to the Blue Hole.

Campground has many nice sites, some along the river. Nicely spaced apart even when neighbors are visible. The water systems were down and we had to bring our own, not a problem -- this was communicated to us beforehand. Bathrooms were clean and stocked. Very quiet surroundings (and neighbors).

The campground was all be it not as well kept as others in the USFS system. Limited impact felt from lack of water but this issue needs to be addressed. Biggest issue is the bathrooms were ill maintained and the disinfectant overpowered the senses and one could hardly breath. I suspect the product is not being used per instructions. The host camp was unsightly but staff were pleasant. River access good and water great.

This is a primo campground usually (our family has visited for seven decades) but the fire prohibition including use of campfire rings really impacted the quality of our two night this mid August. There was also no running water due to systems under repair. Even though there was significant rain in the region the previous week the USFS did not lift the prohibition. Perhaps the dry terrain did not show significant enough changes and/or fine tuning of status is not possible). Finally the camp pit toilets are getting quite old and are poorly maintained, leaving a disgusting odor and ambience. All that said, the beauty and history of the locale still made the visit worthwhile.
