About Ohanapecosh Campground

Ohanapecosh Campground, on the southeast side of Mount Rainier National Park, is surrounded by old growth forest and crossed by an exceptionally beautiful snow-fed river. Close to Ohanapecosh are popular hikes to Silver Falls. The Grove of the Patriarchs trail is closed to public access until the bridge accessing the Grove is replaced. The main attraction at Mount Rainier National Park is the mountain itself, a glacier-clad volcano of immense proportions. At 14,411 ft., it dominates the skyline for hundreds of miles. Visitors travel through majestic old-growth forests, past tumbling waterfalls and historic buildings to reach sub-alpine meadows, where world-famous wildflower displays are seen in July and August. Popular activities in the park include sight-seeing, hiking, climbing and camping. Ohanapecosh campground has an elevation of 1,914 feet. Weather is dry, cool and sunny in the summer with daytime temperatures in the 60 to 80-degree range. Even though the eastern side of the park can be sunnier than other areas, weather can be variable and visitors should come prepared.

Within two days of our arrival the area received 1.05" rain yet no ground fires were allowed. The rest rooms were all uphill from the campsites - not great for 70 year-olds. The Silver Falls trail was reputed to be 2.7 miles but my Apple Watch calculated we walked over five miles. Staff at the visitor's center followed me around the store presumably to make it harder for me to shoplift. No concessions were available. Otherwise it was nice, LOL

Stayed in E7. Nice area with lots of trees and good distance between sites. This site is quite narrow and requires stepping over roots and small logs. The only area for a tent is higher than the table and you must pass the fire ring on the way, which is also higher than the table. Think bi- or tri-level. With only one set of bathrooms/camping sink/spigots in the loop, we had to walk a bit to get there but it was clean.

Very easy check in.
Current information about no camp fires and the week day road closures to Paradise would be great to have prominently displayed on your website.

We had a great camping here. Very clean restroom and convenient trash and recycling station. The tent pad of our site was sloped and I had difficulty sleeping there.
