What Guests Are Saying
Takhlakh Lake Campground offers stunning scenery, with breathtaking views of Mt. Adams and a well-maintained lake. The hiking trails and campground facilities are generally clean, and the camp hosts receive praise for their friendliness and diligence. However, issues such as a lack of potable water, occasional overcrowding, and recent management challenges can detract from the experience, especially during peak times.

The tent site (45) had a small, light-colored boulder situated in an unfortunate position ahead of the space we had to park our camper van in. One of us tripped over the boulder at night trying to walk to the pit toilet and hit her head/face on the ground, resulting in injuries. That boulder is a trip hazard and should be removed ASAP.

The campground was pleasant. Even with the neighbors deciding that the radio needed to be very loud. The hosts were nice and you could tell they took pride in maintaining the restrooms. The trails needed some chainsaw maintenance. The road up from Cispus was absolutely horrible once it became gravel! Even going at basically 5 mph I thought my car s going to break.

Beautiful and one of my favorite parks!! However I’m afraid that was my last time there because the roads just beat my car & trailer too much!🥲

Mosquitoes, mosquitoes, mosquitoes !
The only safe place was in the tent !
Arrived 7/31/22 planning to stay 3 nights. We lasted 2 and bailed out !
Lovely spot at the foot of Mt Adams, nice campground, good tent sites, pit toilets well maintained, friendly and helpful camp hosts....but the mosquitoes, sheesh !
People who knew what they were doing were wearing mosquito nets on their heads and in some cases "all over body" mosquito nets.
I would say don't go there until very late in the summer and hopefully they've thinned out by then !
I was there on a day trip as part of a different camping trip last summer, towards the end of august and there were virtually no mosquitoes at all. But early August this year.... not good at all

Bathrooms and campground were clean. Hosts were great. However, there were so many bugs you couldn't talk outside without getting a mouthful. We kept waiting for the bugs to go away as the sun came out, but if anything, they got worse. We went home early.
We will try again next year as this is usually one of our favorite campgrounds.

First I'll start by saying the camp host were very good. Clean restrooms and good dry firewood available.
But the campground itself was a shambles with trees fallen all around. Small water puddles all around make superb breeding ground for the mosquitoes. There is supposed to be a trail around the lake, but it isn't maintained so it's blocked by fallen trees.
The lack of any water and none to be found for at least 8 miles makes this a campground we'll probably never visit again.

I’ve visited before and always love Takhlakh, but this time was subpar only because there was no water and at first I just that my memory had served me wrong but upon talking to other campers—who had camped there before too—they also thought potable drinking water had been at Takhlakh in years past. Wouldn’t have been a problem had we been prepared and brought more water. Bring lots of bug spray, it sure is buggy up there!

Camp hosts were great; friendly and attentive. We were camped right next to the outhouse and it was clean and fresh-smelling. The camp hosts cleaned it regularly. Nice quiet campground even though it was at 100% capacity (on a Friday night). Such a scenic campground; we spent the day on the lake in a kayak. Very busy since it was a weekend, but everybody there was considerate. The mosquitoes and black flies were fierce! We expected that and did our best to combat them, but decided to leave one night early. A lot of other campers did also. Ah, such is camping in the woods in July! Still a lot of fun; wanted to spend a day on the lake for a very long time and finally did it. Clear, blue skies and Mount Adams was gorgeous.
