incredible spot. barely made it before dark. usb outlet from solar panel would be nice for emergency charging of cell phone. outhouse could use better ventilation. wood stove,solar lights and propane stove worked great. snow melted for water worked great. wolf tracks nearby were a pleasant surprise. amazing silence and darkest sky for stargazing ive seen in years. will b back

The cabin was very comfortable for the two of us, well supplied with pots and dishes, cots, and even games and puzzles. No sign of mice (reported by others). Snow was crusty, but we had a nice snowshoe. Windy and chilly, but the wood stove kept us plenty warm.

Great first time stay at the cabin on May 2nd 2021. My 2 sons and I made the 5 mi in just over 3 hours. I have hiked this area many times in just about every condition, but this was the most challenging. The weather was nice, but the mixture of mud, snow and ice made for some dicey sections. We chose not to bring snow shoes, which ended up being a good choice as we would have had to take them on and off many times. However, the were many post holing incidents on the way up and down.
The cabin was awesome and left clean inside from the previous visitors - we did the same. Melting snow reveled aluminum and tin cans that were used for target practice - we packed what we could find, but I'm sure there is more to be uncovered.

Our family stayed the night at this Cabin on our Hike of the Kettle Crest South trail #13. We weathered out an amazing thunderstorm overnight and got to watch the lightning from the comfort of our cots with a hot dinner while we played games. My Wife and I, with our four children and a dog fit quite comfortably(cozy, but comfortable). We were pleasantly surprised by how well stocked the cabin was, with firewood for the stove, propane for the cook stove, cookware and dishes, cots with mats and even a box of games to play. The privy is well taken care of and clean. We only found out about the cabin the day we started our hike and were lucky enough that it was available for that evening, but we really had no idea what to expect, what an epic blessing it was. We will definitely be back.
