Campers appreciate the close proximity to the stunning Lower Falls and numerous hiking trails, contributing to a peaceful and scenic experience. However, some improvements are needed, such as additional water stations and better restroom facilities, as well as addressing overcrowding during peak times.

It is a great campgrounds with lots of tall trees and wooded areas between sites. The bathrooms are cleaned frequently which is a relief because they can can get pretty nasty and smelly in the hot summer weather. The water from the water pump was so refreshing and pure. Must be from a spring. I just wish they would let people who are camping to use the parking lot in the recreation sites without a reservation. We would be happy to pay for the parking. And with just limiting people who can use the parking to people with reservations and ones who are camping in the area, would still control the number of people and keep the road from being crowded with parked cars. We decided to stay an extra night at a first come first serve campground and because we didn’t have a reservation for the recreation site at lower falls, and couldn’t make a reservation since there was no cell service, we had to walk 3miles on the road/4 miles on the trail to get to the lower falls area from Horse camp…

The falls are beautiful. The trails are nice. The last couple miles of the road there are a mess. Dirt and gravel. Potholes. Dips. There was a trail of oil around the campground loop that I assume was from damaged oil pans. There's only one well pump at the campground. There was plenty of trash around the campground and trails, and even some taggings.
Campsite was OK for tent camping.
I really wanted to see the falls. Now that I've seen them, I probably won't be back.
BTW, make sure you make a reservation, or get a day use pass online. They were turning people away after they drove or rode there on that bad road.

Wonderful campground. The sites are spaced out so you're not practically sleeping in your neighbors tent, and the walk to the river and lower falls is just a minute or two. It was quiet at night, not a lot of young groups partying loudly or making noise. The burn ban was still in effect, but they did have fire pits, hopefully next time we can have a fire to round out the evening. It's also only 20-40 minutes from a few attractions such as Ape Cave and one of the many St. Helens viewpoints.
