I've hiked at Trout Pond but my first time staying at the campgrounds. Lovely place. Unique sites. Except for the noisy campers (after 10pm), it was wonderful.

This is a great place for tent/camper camping and hiking. The sites are nice and spread out. It's safe. There are 4 restrooms with showers. The access to the playground, beach and pavilion is nice. Our Verizon and T-Mobile cell service did not work there, but they did in Wardensville WV. There is a handy gas station/market there where you can get just about anything you need.

The Campground is a nice size. It's not a ginormous community, but neither is it a small camping area. The sites are well spaced and the facilities are a bit aged, but very clean and maintained. Park Rangers check daily on the maintenance and upkeep of park. There is a volunteer camp host who will take monies for drive-ins who take first come-first serve available site. You can also reserve sites at Recreation.Gov. Additionally, a gentlemen did a walk through of the park to show the various site types and facility locations on YOUTUBE, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlIEXgOlb6Q
There are scenic trails, valley overlook, fishing, swimming and non gas motor boating. Overall, a good hidden gem two hours from DC/NOVA. Little to no cell service.
