Trout Pond was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It came as quite a surprise as I had not looked thoroughly enough on the location and thought it was much much closer to Shenandoah National Park which is where we intended to visit. Trout Pond is essentially in the middle of no where, which ended up being fun. Cell service is only available with a mile hike up the hill. Life throws curve balls, we laughed and enjoyed ourselves, but if you want to visit Shenandoah, I might try someplace much closer!!

The lake is clear and fun to swim in. The hiking trails, e.g. around the lake and up the mountain to the lookout are great. The kids love playing in the stream.
