Gerald Freeman Campground

The overall campground upkeep is horribly lacking. Overflowing dumpsters, way overgrown grass, hosts are unaware of their own campground (ie- made us stop to fill up at the water fi ll. We told them our site has water and they guaranteed us it does not, we pulled in after filling up and there was the water hookup)

Host was also rather rude, tracked down my mother in law and insisted she pay a guest pass when she was staying with us in our site.

Electric kept shorting out. Just overall the maintenance and upkeep of the park is greatly going downhill.

Beautiful camping grounds, although grass was extremely high and my children kept getting stung by bees. Garbage dumps were running over and were very stinky.

The camp ground was very nice. I did enjoy it. There were dogs not on leaches and came at you barking and the trash was so piled up and smelled bad…the site next to us had about 4 families at it. 1 camper and 3 tents..there was a park security drive thru but didn’t say a word to them..the camper host was not very friendly. I will go to this camp ground again though. Our spot was on the water and that was nice.

Nice secluded campground down in a valley. I didn’t end up staying more than a night because I work remotely and there is zero service within a good 5 miles of campground. Would come back though

Loved this place. Getting to our location was a bit scary but once we cleared the trees and hills we were able to get in our site without any issues. We just didn’t enjoy having our back end to the neighbors eating area when we arrived because we felt the noise was disturbing to them. The best part was all the wonderful people and the boat rental in the park and shop right outside of it. On the way out we had a tree with its new soft branches that we had to pass. We didn’t break any tree limbs or scratched our RV but we had to take it very slow. I think this may become a problem as the tree matures.

Gerald Freeman is our favorite place to camp! The bath houses are cleaned daily! The camp host are friendly. My kids love that they can ride around on their bikes, play in the river, play on the playground, and volleyball! There is no cell service with I love however, the kids miss it. But, I'm definitely not complaining!!!

There were several things that we really liked about GFC! The sites were generally spacious, the rain we got drained pretty well so it wasn’t incredibly muddy and we were able to park our boat right at our site. We had ice cream from the snack shack and it was tasty! They seemed to have plenty of handy camping supplies.

A few things that were “meh”.. we had another camper offer us their firewood when they left, they said “make sure you get it quick because if someone from the store sees it first they’ll take it and resell it”.. now, that just seems wrong to me.. (this was confirmed with other campers who visited there often)..
I attempted to wash a load of towels from our boat and though the washer was fine, the dryer didn’t work well at all, it heated but didn’t dry the towels even after multiple cycles.
the bath houses were cleaned (with water hoses and buckets of bleach) daily but consistently had standing water in the floors throughout but especially the showers. They didn’t drain well..

We will likely return, but I wouldn’t say its a new favorite of ours.

There is a serious electrical problem on black bear loop. After a heavy rain I was shocked coming out of the camper three times. We had to move our camp site. The neighbors beside us had their camper cord end melted. Another person had his surge protector melted.

it rained hard the night and morning befor we checked in so the water was muddy.
but the nice creek was clear and the kids played in it.
also we went a few miles down the road to the lake area and swam - the kids enjoyed it.
it was well taked care of.
