It was wet. The rain came down in sheets.
The campsite was very unlevel. Make sure you have a lot of blocks for leveling.
Great campground, will be back in the future.

Campground host are fantastic. Forest service folks though need to work on trimming branches. The road into the park has very very low branches, that have no been trimmed in the 7 years we have been visting. The campsites also have very very low branches and huge limbs in the way to pull into site. One of the campers prior to us trimmed a few branches and they went balastic. Well, if they did there job they would not have to be trimmed by the campers. There is no cell service, TV or internet and because of the tree coverage no starlink possible.

I have been camping here for 65 years. I like the lake the campground is so nice. And after the improvements it make it a little better.

The campsite is very spacious and flat. The campground, while fairly full and busy, is rather quiet, especially after 8 pm.
The complaints that we have are the trail down to the water needs improvement. There’s a very poor makeshift bridge of plywood and pallets down which are not stable, or very wide, and still do not sit above the swamp water. There needs to be a proper bridge built there. The second complaint is that the lake itself does not have clear marker on the Northwest side of the lake where the are numerous large boulders barely below water. There’s two “no wake” bouys before them, But they say nothing about “Rocks” nor are the boulders marked as a warning that they are there. We, as new campers to the lake, were unaware of them and nearly hit several of them in our boat even though we were going very slow. It’s a dangerous area, that’s unmarked properly. The third complaint is that the well in the main area is not usable. We had to go to the back loops to get fresh water.
Overall it’s a nice campground. We expect federal campgrounds to be more rustic. But I feel like there’s room for logical improvements.

Visit Wolf River Roots for a local coffee shop/vendor's market located in an old church. So cool!

We were only at Boulder Lake for one night, while traveling, so we didn't spend a lot of time there. The only negative for us was that we had to walk quite a long way to get water. The sites were spacious and beautiful.
