What Guests Are Saying

Rex Hale campground is highly praised for its beautiful, well-maintained sites and friendly camp host, Tom, who is noted for his helpfulness and attentiveness. The campground offers a peaceful and picturesque outdoor experience, with convenient amenities such as water and electricity at some sites. While there are only vault toilets, they are clean and well-kept, and the location provides easy access to Yellowstone's east entrance.

We liked the openness of this campground so we can get the morning sun. Plus we use a solar panel to keep the battery of our pop-up charged. The other campgrounds are more shaded by lots of trees. The host is a very friendly retired guy from Cody. Very quiet campground. The campground also has a water spigot at the entrance so one can fill up the water tank of an RV with a hose.

Nice location close to river and mountains outside of Yellowstone. Clean campsites and we even had a fox wander through next to our trailer to check things out.

The campsite is really a nice site and Tom, the camp host, was really nice. We had electric and water most nights, but the electric/water sites are limited and we had to switch to a non-electric/water site for some nights because of the way reservations work on Recreation.Gov. The biggest drawback for us was that there isn't a dump station in the campsite for campers. There is for the host, but not campers. The closest dump station was in Cody and that meant a 2 hour round trip, which pretty much takes up half a morning, especially if you also have to move a site. Apparently this is the same for all campsites outside of the Yellowstone border. The sites inside Yellowstone had dump stations. Because of this, we will try to book inside the park next time. Not having a dump station anywhere close was a huge issue for us as we stayed for over a week. If you are staying a short time, it may not be for you.
