Beautiful location, large campsites, quiet neighbors, and clean toilets. I could not ask for a better camping experience! Being so close to a small river was really fun for the kids. I was concerned about being so close to the road, but it was only a few times a day that I remembered it was even there when a motorcycle went by. There is no traffic on that road at night. It was over 100deg in SLC, but never got over 75deg here. Absolutely wonderful!

We have been to the exact location for a number of years now and we really enjoy it. It is a wonderful place where the family can spread out and still be close enough to feel like we are together. Several spots have nice trees and shade and we never fail to see moose and deer in the campground. The host was a wonderful and kind young man who is doing a nice job this summer making everyone feel welcome.

This is one of our favorite Mirror Lake Highway Campgrounds. The camp host was great, the sites are spacious and the scenery is lovely. There is a little road noise but it didn’t detract from our visit.

Great camping area! We drove in to 5 different campgrounds and all spots were full. A few spots said they were reserved but nobody was there. We finally talked to a ranger who said that some people had not shown up so if it was empty we could camp there since it had already been 2 nights. We were prepared to leave if needed but it was nice to have a spot.
My only complaint was one of the bathroom doors at the ver end would not lock. The restrooms were very clean.

Campground is well kept and restrooms reasonably clean. Barely saw the camp host. Overall, this campground is probably better for campers/trailers than tents if there is a lot of rain in the forecast, but we managed.

#7 had shade and access to the creek. Bathrooms were clean, host was accommodating. My only complaint is the campground being so close to the highway.

From Evanston, Wyoming, take Utah Highway 150 (Mirror Lake Scenic Byway) south for 39 miles. Sulphur Campground is on the west side of the highway.
From Kamas, Utah, take Center Street east. It becomes Utah Highway 150 (Mirror Lake Scenic Byway). Travel about 40 miles. There will be a sign for Sulphur Campground, which is on the west side of the road.
Sulphur Campground is accessible via Utah Highway 150 (Mirror Lake Scenic Byway), which connects to Evanston, Wyoming, and Kamas, Utah. The campground is located directly off this highway.
Elevation: 2774 feet
39 mi drive to downtown Evanston (about 43 min)
Policies & Rules
General
- This Campground is in Bear Country Always store food and trash securely to avoid attracting wildlife -Failure to comply may result in fines up to $5,000, removal from your site and/or imprisonment Remember, a fed bear is a dead bear; your actions can save lives
- Water is limited; bring your own supply, including drinking water, as the spring is unreliable This is a 'pack it in, pack it out' facility; bring trash bags
- Dogs or Domestic Pets Owners must -Control dog by leash not to exceed six feet (6’) at all times -Clean up dog feces immediately -Limit two dogs per site Do not allow dogs to -Threaten or attack people/animals -Interfere with people, vehicles, or property -Cause damage to vegetation or harass wildlife
- Gates open at 7am, close at 10pm. Camping is allowed only within the designated space provided. Do not go beyond the site boundaries. Max occupancy is 8 people per single site. Reserved campsites will be held until 12pm on the day after your arrival date. Horses/Off-road vehicles are prohibited in the campground, ATVs must be trailered to an ATV area 4 miles away. Leave No Trace. Put all trash in dumpsters, if provided, or properly stored in your vehicle or bear box. Remove all personal property and trash when leaving. Unclean sites will be reported to the District Ranger LEO. Leaving food/trash in an unoccupied campsite may result in a $5,000 fine. Cleaning fish, animals, or bathing where drinking water is supplied is strictly prohibited. Fireworks, discharging of firearms, or other explosives in the campground is not allowed. No boisterous behavior. Be courteous. Keep noise at a reasonable level. No amplified music is allowed in USDA Forest Service campgrounds and facilities. People come to the campgrounds for peace and quiet.
- There is a 2-night minimum stay on weekends; 3-night minimum stay on holiday weekends
- Trailers/Campers and RVs: Come with water tank filled. Hooking up to spigots or the power in the restrooms, even for medical devices is strictly prohibited
- First Come First Served (FF) sites For reservable sites, reservations must be made at least 5 days in advance You must claim a FF site in person on the day you wish to check-in A site listed as FF does not guarantee availability, Recreation.gov does not update FF occupancy The only way to know if an FF site is available is to arrive at the campground the day you plan to check-in Availability cannot be predicted Many sites are in remote locations, we cannot contact camp hosts about availability Recommended arrival times vary by day. Weekends and holidays fill more quickly To claim an FF site, you must be present, occupy the site, and pay at that time
- Extra Vehicle -$10 per vehicle, per day (paid on-site cash/check) Firewood -$9
- If you booked at a discount without a Senior or Access pass, you'll need to pay the difference in cash/check upon arrival. Only Senior or Access passes qualify for discounts and proof of ownership upon arrival is required
- Please understand that camping is an outdoor experience; we do not give refunds for weather or natural conditions Cancellations within 24 hours prior to arrival date will forfeit the entire use fee and a $10 cancellation fee No-shows, early departures, or cancellations after the arrival date will not be refunded Failure to arrive at the site by 12pm time the day after scheduled arrival and does not cancel the reservation, will be charged a $20 service fee and forfeit the first-night use fee
