Good site, really close to Mammoth Hot Springs. Easy to get to if you are coming from the north or west, but a bit of a drive if you are entering the park from the south. Lots of flies and mosquitos though (we stayed in early July). Pit toilets were clean and access to potable water was easy.

Lovely, quiet campground. Very bear-aware, which made sense as there was a bear outside our tent at 5 a.m.! Great location in Yellowstone and the campground was clean.

This was a great though rustic campground. At night it was nice and quiet and easy to get out early to see the sites before the crowds came into the park!

This campground was very exciting, especially if you want to see wildlife. We saw a bear, a bison (who visited every site near us) and herds of elk. There are no hook-ups for RV's and no use of generators. But this campground is located very close to the Mammoth Hot Springs area, so if you need a little technology or hustle and bustle, you are not too far away. The toilets are not flushing, but they are maintained well and do not smell. There are no showers either, so keep that in mind. We would stay here again in the future.

If you are looking for a quiet, basic campground to serve as a home base while in Yellowstone, this is the place. Sites are all in good shape, well maintained. Bathrooms are cleaned regularly. On the outskirts of the campground there is access to plenty of fallen dead trees for firewood, if you bring a small (8-12 inch) hand saw. The Camp Hosts and Rangers are very picky about everything, but will talk to you and warn you first if some corrective action needs to be takes. We stayed one week (end of Jun - early July) and had a bison walk literally right next to our campsite one evening. Grizzly bears visited the campground regularly - typically very early in the morning when it is quiet. The sniff around and leave if nothing is to be found. That is why EVERYTHING with odor must be stored in your vehicles or the spacious steel bear boxes at each campsite. Leave nothing out - food, ice chests, water bottles, stoves, pots, silverware, wash basins, even toiletries. Do not store in your tent, but in your vehicle. It was very cold a few nights - down in the low 30's. Bring warm sleeping bags and wear layers at night. Days were in the 60's and 70's. Plan for some rain, plan for even a thunderstorm with hail. Weather changes quite rapidly, so the weather predictions need to be checked at local visitor info stations regularly. Also, be friendly and talk to your neighbors - they can tell you about fun places to visit or where they saw wildlife. Indian Creek campground is located in the northwest section of the park - approx 10 minute drive to Mammoth area for gas, stores, ice, etc.

Excellent location! Important to note that they do not sell firewood or ice or anything at the checkin station. There is also no phone signal at the camp--which was not a problem for us as we loved to disconnect! However, this site is only about 15 minute drive from Mammoth Hot Springs which has phone signal, restaurants, gas, and other services. The bathrooms are not bathhouses but rather just single-use, non-flushing toilet rooms--but they were really clean! The sites are kind of close to each other but that wasn't an issue for us. Our fire pit was VERY new and nice. Upon checkin, we were told that they spotted a grizzly bear in the camp the nights before we arrived. Luckily, we never saw one. Definitely use the bear box and keep all food and scented items in there or locked in your car. Also, take your trash to the trash bins at the camp entrance each night before going to sleep.

Site 18 next to the vault toilets... smelly, noisy. And very close to neighbors on the other side. Yellowstone is so big, do the campsites really need to be so close together ? We were a bit disappointed with the campground, although of course the experience of sleeping in the middle of Yellowstone is fabulous.

Information that no generators are allowed need to be added to your website. We had to leave early because we thought we could use a generator to keep our batteries charged. Our batteries ran too low. Very sad we had to leave early
