Absolutely wonderful! We had a great stay. There were sites that fit our fifth wheel without an issue. Nice views and loved the elk! There is a bit of road noise because of location but that didn't really bother us since we were exhausted at the end of every day. One of our favorite areas of the park to be sure!

Awesome views. Nice proximity to the historical town (Mammoth) and Gardner (outside the park). Sites were small but easy to navigate. Unfortunately no place to wash dishes or shower. The campground did suggest a place in Gardner though. Not all sites have a gravel leveled area for tents. It was nice being in the park and not having to deal with the gate. Felt overpriced though for the amenities it provided. Especially when compared to other National Park campgrounds I’ve been to.

The campsites were very nice and well kept. Water was easily accessible all over the campground, which was nice. However, there is no dish washing station, so you have to dispose of grey water in the toilets, which is a little odd. The bathrooms are quite nice, with running water to wash hands. There isn't anywhere to shower near Mammoth campground though, which is inconvenient, especially if your stay is more than a couple of days. Overall, we enjoyed camping at Mammoth.

Campground is very nice. I have camped here many times. Camp this year had bison, adult elk and calves, coyotes, and bears. Be vigilant at all times about animals. Keep your distance from them and keep your food secure. Weather ranged from very hot to snow.

This campground was great! We woke up surrounded by elk and with an elk chewing on our tent. Our kids thought it was the coolest! Bathroom was a little far, but a great campground.

We have medical equipment needing electricity over night. The rule against generators and no 120 volt a/c plug available meant we had to leave and drive to Livingston, MT to an RV park.

Due to the construction of the Tower-Roosevelt road, gravel trucks were running all day and night. The noise was loud and constant. We camped on a site adjacent to the road and wish we'd been warned in advance. The campground host was kind and explained the reason behind the constant trucks. On a positive note the bathroom facilities were excellent. We got up and left really early because of the noise.

Policies & Rules
General
- Mammoth Campground is managed by the park. If you are looking for campgrounds managed by Yellowstone National Park Lodges (Fishing Bridge RV Park, Bridge Bay, Canyon, Madison, and Grant Village campgrounds), please visit the Yellowstone National Park Lodges Camping website.
- RV or Camper Unit Delivery Prohibited. The delivery or pick-up of out-of-park RVs or other camper unit rentals is prohibited.
- Notify the Campground of Late Arrivals. To notify campground of late arrival or cancellation please call 307-344-2289
- Parking. All wheeled vehicles including trailers and motorcycles must be parked on parking pads or established roadways, so as not to block or restrict traffic in campgrounds.
- Camping Occupancy Limits. Maximum occupancy is six people per site. Camp only in designated sites. Camping is limited to 14 days from July 1 through Labor Day and to 30 days the rest of the year parkwide. The 44 day camping limit includes both concession- and park-operated campgrounds.
- Wildlife/Bear Regulations. ~Keep all food and related items - beverages, cooking utensils, stoves, pet food and, empty or full, food and beverage containers such as coolers, ice chests, and water jugs - locked inside your vehicle or stored in a food storage box, unless in immediate use. Bear resistant food containers must be kept in a vehicle, in a hard-sided camping unit, or in a food storage box. ~All trash and garbage must be disposed of in the provided bear-proof trash cans. Do not leave food related trash or garbage unattended. ~Washing dishes or clothing at campground hydrants or spigots is prohibited. Carry all dishwater/wastewater to the restroom toilet for disposal.
- Campfires and Firewood. Wood and charcoal fires are permitted. Campfires are permitted only in established fire grates. Fires must be attended at all times. Only dead, down, and detached wood may be gathered. Wood should not extend outside the fire grate perimeter. Do not break limbs off of standing trees, living or dead. Drown campfires thoroughly with water to make sure they are completely out. NOTE: Wood and charcoal fires may be subject to special restrictions due to fire danger. Restrictions will be listed on campground information boards and on the park's Current Conditions page. Propane grills and stoves are not usually affected by fire restrictions.
- Quiet hours are strictly enforced. No loud audio devices or other noise disturbances will be allowed during this time. Generators are prohibited between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Generators must be turned off durng the day when campsite is not occupied by site renter.
- Stay on Boardwalks and Trails. All travel in thermal areas is restricted to NPS designated trails and boardwalks.
- Fishing. To fish within the park, people 16 years of age and older are required to purchase and carry on their person a Yellowstone National Park Fishing Permit (you may purchase in advance). To learn more about fishing regulations, visit the park's Catch a Fish web page.
- 30 ft RV limit. From November through April.
