Fantastic spot! Great view! Close enough to amenities of Mammoth Springs “town” but tucked away enough to really feel a part of the beautiful park. EXCELLENT camp hosts! So nice and friendly. I wish I could remember their names to thank them personally. One couple from Arkansas and a lovely host in site #1. We will be back!!

pay attention to the amount of shade at your site. there was none at ours, site 12, and it was too hot for us and the dogs. also, i would not bring dogs again as we had an mama elk and her baby walk through our camp and it was way too stressful with the dogs (but that's on us, not the campground).

We have visited Mammoth Campground for many decades. In May it is the choice for the northern tier of YNP which is our area of primary interest since wildlife watching is what we are there for at that time of year. Lamar valley is where we spend most of our waking hours looking for all sorts of wildlife but especially wolves and grizzly bears. However, we love watching everything in the air and on the ground. When the road opens to Hayden valley we head that direction to watch whatever is available to see there. In our opinion everything in YNP is a must see destination and totally based on available time. Mammoth CG is good for us since we travel with a 5th wheel and many sites will work for us. CG hosts are always friendly and courteous. This and every year we only have one and its always the same complaint. Visitors seem to think that sagebrush is a perfect source for firewood. Many visitors would not know the difference between a dead branch vs. a live branch. This trip we continued to observe many people at different sites destroy them with axes, hatchets, or by hand just twisting them out of the ground. Most often its early in the morning or late evening. We think that the best solution to the problem would be a zero allowance of removal of any vegetation inside the campground and a mandatory fine for doing so. We love Mammoth CG and like it to stay beautiful for as long as possible.

It is a wonderful campground, and a good place for staging your visit to YNP. The restroom facilities were appreciated, as they had regular toilets instead of vault toilets. The only amenity was potable water, and that was appreciated. The construction trucks are very loud, and could better serve the campground guests if they didn't use jake brakes, and did not operate during the quiet hours the campground has to abide by.

I enjoyed my stay at the campground very much! My only complaint is the faucet in the Women's Restroom at Site 74. It splashed a lot everywhere and was a big pain to use.

I really love this campsite. Nice landscape surrounding with quick access to the Terrances and hiking! This is my 2nd time camping at this campground. I will say that you can sometimes hear cars driving but it was not a problem for us. Also not for showering you will want to help back into town or to the south end of the park as there are no showers here.

Policies & Rules
General
- Mammoth Campground is managed by the park. If you are looking for campgrounds managed by Yellowstone National Park Lodges (Fishing Bridge RV Park, Bridge Bay, Canyon, Madison, and Grant Village campgrounds), please visit the Yellowstone National Park Lodges Camping website.
- RV or Camper Unit Delivery Prohibited. The delivery or pick-up of out-of-park RVs or other camper unit rentals is prohibited.
- Notify the Campground of Late Arrivals. To notify campground of late arrival or cancellation please call 307-344-2289
- Parking. All wheeled vehicles including trailers and motorcycles must be parked on parking pads or established roadways, so as not to block or restrict traffic in campgrounds.
- Camping Occupancy Limits. Maximum occupancy is six people per site. Camp only in designated sites. Camping is limited to 14 days from July 1 through Labor Day and to 30 days the rest of the year parkwide. The 44 day camping limit includes both concession- and park-operated campgrounds.
- Wildlife/Bear Regulations. ~Keep all food and related items - beverages, cooking utensils, stoves, pet food and, empty or full, food and beverage containers such as coolers, ice chests, and water jugs - locked inside your vehicle or stored in a food storage box, unless in immediate use. Bear resistant food containers must be kept in a vehicle, in a hard-sided camping unit, or in a food storage box. ~All trash and garbage must be disposed of in the provided bear-proof trash cans. Do not leave food related trash or garbage unattended. ~Washing dishes or clothing at campground hydrants or spigots is prohibited. Carry all dishwater/wastewater to the restroom toilet for disposal.
- Campfires and Firewood. Wood and charcoal fires are permitted. Campfires are permitted only in established fire grates. Fires must be attended at all times. Only dead, down, and detached wood may be gathered. Wood should not extend outside the fire grate perimeter. Do not break limbs off of standing trees, living or dead. Drown campfires thoroughly with water to make sure they are completely out. NOTE: Wood and charcoal fires may be subject to special restrictions due to fire danger. Restrictions will be listed on campground information boards and on the park's Current Conditions page. Propane grills and stoves are not usually affected by fire restrictions.
- Quiet hours are strictly enforced. No loud audio devices or other noise disturbances will be allowed during this time. Generators are prohibited between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Generators must be turned off durng the day when campsite is not occupied by site renter.
- Stay on Boardwalks and Trails. All travel in thermal areas is restricted to NPS designated trails and boardwalks.
- Fishing. To fish within the park, people 16 years of age and older are required to purchase and carry on their person a Yellowstone National Park Fishing Permit (you may purchase in advance). To learn more about fishing regulations, visit the park's Catch a Fish web page.
- 30 ft RV limit. From November through April.
