I stopped here just for just 2 nights of rest while making my way down to Florida, escaping those huge Winter storms up north in Jan/Feb.. 2 nights! This was wayyyyy back in the beginning of Feb. We're now a week out from Memorial Day & I am only now checking out!!!!

This RV campground quickly became my new home. I kept extending because I couldn't leave yet. If felt like I stumbled on some secret riverfront paradise! Everyone here has been so cool and friendly, and were very welcoming; always waving as I passed by. I stayed right on the Stix river at spaces 23 & 25 and it was just magical every single day. Good catfishing if you have your gear. The kayaking was fantastic. Tubes are also available at the office during season. If you rent a river site you'll meet their group of ducks. Also the bounce houses for the kids were a nice touch. The vibes here are just right and leaving is so hard. 🥺😩

And then there is April who is the Mgr of the Campground and Office. I can't begin to imagine if my experience here would have been this fantastic without April or her husband. Plus their weekend fish fries were just, wow! Her husband made a poached red snapper that reminded me so much of my late father's Ajiaco Marinero (Cuban dish). I've seen them tackle sooo many projects throughout the campground in my 3+ months here; from tree trimming to road upgrades (widening, grading filling)c clearing debris from the river, and leveling some of the grounds. April runs a tight ship! This campground is all the better because of her and her team.

Thank you for the the past 3 months of bliss here and making me feel like family. I cannot wait to come back to the The Retreat Campground!

We stayed at one of the tent sites and we had the best time !! The staff and other campers was super friendly and very helpful! They had activities for the kiddos including a waterslide , bouncy house , bubble blower & park . They also had great sandbars and easy river access. They also have grills available . Their bathrooms are clean and have good showers with hot water . I would highly recommend for a great family trip or even a solo trip

The Retreat is a really good campground overall. One of the best parts is being right next to the river—you can relax, enjoy the nature vibes, and even go tubing, which makes the experience feel fun and peaceful at the same time.
I also love that you still get full hookups for your camper (water, sewage, and electric), so you don’t have to sacrifice comfort. The Camper spots are very spacious, which gives you plenty of room to spread out and enjoy your stay.
The picnic areas by the river are large, clean, and well-kept—perfect for families or just relaxing outdoors. The bathrooms are also a big plus, especially when you don’t feel like using your camper’s toilet. Everything is convenient and easy to access. The park is dog-friendly, and the staff are very nice and welcoming.
The only downside is the area near the entrance where some people seem to live full-time. Unfortunately, those spots are not well maintained and have a lot of clutter and junk around. It takes away from the natural, peaceful atmosphere and can feel more like a rundown trailer park than a nature retreat.
Overall, the concept is nice, especially with the river access and nature setting. Has lots of potential!! I will come back .
