Road in was very dusty and needed a grater. Campground and bathrooms were clean. Fire pit was clean. Campsite could use a bit of weed whacking.

It was fun and beautiful. Did not know there was a beautiful Lake in the area. it was a wonderful surprise. The only down fall was that the tent could not be on the ground you had to put it up on the gravel near the campfire pit. you will need reservations to come there. it is a big place the larger the number the closer to the water.

The campground was very clean, kid friendly, a bit noisy at times with barking dogs. People did a good job cleaning up after their dogs. The outhouses were super clean, much appreciated!

I love the Trail River campsite. I love being able to stay there. What I don't love is the inflexibility of this site. When I tried to change the date of our camping experience first through the website and then through numerous phone calls, the site wouldn't let me, and several phone receptionists told me I had to ask for a refund after not showing up. (I think the issue was the smoke from the Kenai Peninsula fires, but I can't remember any more.) After the fact, I got several emails from the site managers saying that they hoped I'd had a good time and that they apologized for any difficulty in communication. When I followed up by trying to phone and explain, no one would take my calls.
It may sound as though I'm one of those unruly clients, but I'm a regular user of campsites and cabins, and of reservation sites. I forgive when stoves don't work and doors won't open. But to not let me change the date, and to keep putting me off until I just give up...that's inexcusable. Please figure out how to make the site more user-friendly and the ability to change dates work.
