Did this in this year’s snowy October. I can’t love this cabin enough. There are boards to help contain the heat to the first floor if your group doesn’t expand to the second level, which was helpful! Right on the lake with mountains all around. Secluded away from the main Res Pass trail. I hidden gem that I hate to promote for fear of it becoming too popular, because I selfishly want to return again (and again)!

The hike in was great. Unfortunately, there were two guys at the cabin when we got there. They poached it the night before and tried to make us feel guilty because we didn't want to share it with them and let them stay another night. They also burned up the majority of the wood the people that stayed there over the weekend left. We still had a good night even though it was cold. The cabin is beautiful! You guys did a great job! We look forward to coming back and staying here again.
Thanks for all you do.

This is absolutely my favorite cabin on the resurrection pass trail! It's the only 2-story cabin with a loft on the trail. The lake is super epic! It's not muddy at all and it's amazing to swim and skinny-dip in! And there's a row-boat with a dock that they fold out in the summer. In the future, I want to plan a trip where myself and friends have 3-4 days just hanging out at this cabin. It would be great to hike from Coopers landing, stay a few days and maybe hike to Juneau Lake for a couple days for another cabin stay and then back to Coopers landing. The Romig cabin is another favorite of mine. Trout Lake Cabin is in my opinion the raddest cabin on Res Pass Trail!

Beautiful setting for this really nice cabin. Lots of downed wood around for the stove or campfire. We rowed the boat to the other end of the lake. Wind seems to pick up each afternoon making the trip back a little sketchy. Recommend rowing in the morning. I wish there was better lake access for the tent campers near by because their only access is to come over in front of the cabin by the boat and fire ring. Agree with previous reviewer that it would have been nice to have the dock in the water.

Super great! We were there 8/25-27 of 2021 and it is a beautiful cabin with LOTS OF SPACE!

Downstairs:
Table, benches, counter and shelf below for storage and cooking, plenty of hooks to hang gear, wood stove, a set of bunks, lots of floor room for gear storage out of the way, room for the movement of guests/kids and even anyone who wants to sleep on the floor, good windows.

Upstairs:
REAL STAIR CASE! No sketchy ladder of death! (plenty of Room under the stairs for gear storage out of the way) railings, 2 full/queen platform beds, 2 little windows, and plenty of room for extra guests/kids to sleep on the floor.

There are sheets of wood provided to close off the staircase to help keep the heat downstairs in colder seasons.

Outside amenities:
Large porch, picnic table on porch, sqtaiprs and ramp to porch, board walk to outhouse not too far away, cabin is right on the lake and the pictures don't do the view justice! Shed with wood, saw and ax, row boat, outside fire pit and seating.

THE CONS ARE FEW:
On 8/25/2021 there was not a stock pile of any log rounds or chopped firewood. Just a large pile of dead/beetle kill branches and sticks. It was a large pile, but no real logs. The cabin could afford someone coming in on float plane or snowmachine with a chain saw to make it happen.

If you come on float plane and need handicap access, you will find that the outhouse door will not open wide enough because the deck flooring to the OH has settled lower than the ramp/boardwalk leading up to it. So the door is stopped by the higher portion of decking. The door opens wide enough for a walking person to get in but not a wheelchair.

Looking forward to staying again next summer!!
