This is a very nice campground. Wish it had cell phone and internet service. Not needed for streaming or emails. More and more people depend on this for emergencies with family or alarm companies.

Wonderful campground! This is one of our favorite places to cool off during the Arizona summer. Tucked in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest near Big Lake, it's peaceful, scenic, and full of tall pines and aspens. There are a lot of downed trees, but we were happy to see new ones being planted.
The campground is clean and well maintained. Restrooms were tidy, and the showers were adequate—nothing fancy, but they got the job done. Campsites are spacious with plenty of room for trailers or RVs. Picnic tables, fire rings, and hookups were all in good shape.
The camp hosts were fabulous. Friendly, helpful, and clearly proud of the campground. Their presence made the experience feel even more inviting.

Campground and restrooms are always clean. They have cut down a lot of trees since we were there last year. That was a surprise but still perfect.

The camp hosts are kind and helpful. The grounds are well maintained and kept clean. Being able to buy ice at the campground is a plus. Having hot water to wash dishes in a dedicated sink is convenient. Having a shower is also great. The bathrooms are cleaned daily, however, the showers could use a really deep cleaning. Often, the same clumps of hair would be there for multiple days, and the shower walls need a good scrubbing.

The campsite was spacious but there was not much shade. It looked like larger trees had been taken out and seedlings were planted instead. The campground was very nice overall. Clean and quiet. Bathroom and shower facilities were also clean and well kept. The lake was a short drive away.

Apache Trout Campground is a great place to stay! We go 2-3 times a year for a two week stay. We go fishing at Big Lake, West & East Fork River (all close to campground). We go kayaking at lake and bike riding around the campground! Camp Hosts are friendly, they keep the campground well managed and keep bathrooms clean. There is also lots of wildlife to see and the weather is just right! Definitely recommend Apache Trout Campground for anyone who loves nature & the outdoors!
