What Guests Are Saying
Starkey Campground offers a peaceful environment, ideal for families and those looking to kayak on Beaver Lake. While some sites are challenging to access and amenities like restrooms need upgrades, many guests appreciate the beautiful views, spacious sites, and proximity to the lake. Overall, it has potential as a quiet retreat, but improvements in maintenance and services are recommended.

Pros: the lady who runs the host stand is super friendly and sweet, there are tons of deer and wildlife in the area, it’s very peaceful and quite and surrounded by water.
Cons: it’s best not to book here if you have never visited and scoped out the sites. Most of them are extremely unlevel from side to side which sucks in a travel trailer! Our leveling system showed a NINE inch difference from left to right and even after we used our full leveling system, we were still 4” high. (Family in a different site had the same issue). The site pad was very narrow, so our steps hung off the asphalt and with the extra height for the leveling issue, it was nearly impossible to get up the steps. We also just barely had enough room to put our slide out. Maneuvering into the skinny sites definitely took skill. Bathrooms were outdated and not great. The website says there are water hookups but it doesn’t specify that there was a only water on a couple sites, and quite a distance from the RV itself. Everything is uphill from the lake so if you walk anywhere you are on a pretty steep grade.
Ultimately we decided we won’t be camping here again. It was extremely stressful trying to park and get level and given the distance from the dam site, it just wasn’t really worth it. We normally stay closer to the dam but decided to try out something new. Unfortunately we weren’t impressed, but we did enjoy the wildlife and the quiet!

Camp site was great, wish the hook up were different as our front door faced the road. Sewage hook up was great.

Our only complaints were the power kept going off (which isn't good for the ac) & the restrooms need painting & toilet seats need replaced.
