What Guests Are Saying

Starkey Campground offers a peaceful environment, ideal for families and those looking to kayak on Beaver Lake. While some sites are challenging to access and amenities like restrooms need upgrades, many guests appreciate the beautiful views, spacious sites, and proximity to the lake. Overall, it has potential as a quiet retreat, but improvements in maintenance and services are recommended.

Great quiet camp site only reason for4 star rating - 30 amp service and water access. Would be great if they offered 59 amp and water access (only have 7 sites with water and no 50 amp service).

Really really pretty and quiet camping experience. Loved the short walk to the swimming area. Really wish they’d update the bathrooms to flush toilets.

We stay here quite often and usually don't have any problem. This last reservation began terribly, but we loved how it was resolved! We got to our campsite at dark only to find tent campers there with a fire going and everything. We discovered they had been there for hours. They were inside their tent and didn't even come out as we sat and talked to the campers across from our site. We were unable to reach anyone by phone in order to ask what to do so we studied the website to find a spot that wasn't reserved and we stayed overnight there. In the morning, the camphost made his rounds and stopped to see what happened (it was their day off the previous day). He drove back down to talk to the campers on our site, but they had disappeared in a matter of the 10 minutes since he had driven by the first time. The hosts contacted the corp and we were allowed to stay in the new site, which benefited us because it was full hookup! We LOVE this campground! The only thing we'd like to see change is the day users be limited since the shoreline access is so small, those of us paying to stay can't get to the water or have a place to sit. Its very frustrating to pay for week and have no place to put the kayaks in due to the number of day users setup for the day on the shoreline.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
