What Guests Are Saying
Cherokee Park is a well-maintained, peaceful campground by the Arkansas River, offering spacious sites and a friendly host. Visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere, opportunities for birdwatching, and enjoyable river views, making it a great spot for family time and relaxation. Some minor issues include the need for grass cutting, bathroom updates, and occasional pest concerns, but overall, guests have had positive experiences and highly recommend the park.

there are complaints we have about Cherokee Campground
#1 the sewer dump station is set up backwards, when leaving the park the sewer dump is on the right side all RV's
the dump control is on the left side
#2 getting to the park could be better marked with signage
that is the only complaints we have . The camp host was friendly and knowledgeable of the area, campground was clean
and the grass had been mowed. Restrooms could be a little cleaner but they were O K. we will be back

Nice camping area, my only recommendation would be to hire a local high school kid who would like to earn extra $$ to pickup trash and to blow off the sites a couple times week.

I was disappointed in that the usual cleanliness and grounds upkeep in COE parks was not present here.

Very peaceful campground. We stayed 4 nights on a holiday weekend. Getting to the campground was a challenge with following the GPS & directions from the website, there is a bridge with height restriction of 13.5ft & the road itself is very narrow to turn onto. So, it was a challenge to find a way around for our camper size & we had to drive through a tight neighborhood. The camping sites are very narrow & most are extremely close to your neighbor. So, you can be up close & personal with strangers. The grounds were overgrown & a very nice elderly gentleman was volunteering his time to mow & pick up brush, so that the campers wouldn't get chigger bites. We didn't even go into the restroom facilities, because they looked very run down & the campground host mentioned they were not budgeted for cleaning supplies. It was still hot & there was no where to get in the water due to the strong undertow, I wished it was posted better that there was "no swimming allowed". The walks along the sand was a treat. You can tell this campground is used for day use fishing & boat launching.

This park has potential but needs lots of work. I did not feel safe in this park, their was no restrictions of people (non-campers) coming and going all hours of the day and night. There were people creeping around in the woods at the end of the campground (site A15) all hours of the night.
The dump station is poorly designed, it is on the wrong side for exiting campers. The road in too narrow for a big rig to turn around and enter from the other other end. Rinse hose was in poor condition.
Good thing I had a self contained unit because the rest room building look nasty from the outside - I wouldn't even approach.

Camp site is clean.
Between main road and park was bit dark and feel unsafe.

Quiet laid back campground. We stayed one night but would wish we could have stayed longer. Nothing fancy here just a good place to relax. Hosts were excellent.
