Only ding on this camping experience was of the extremely poor cell phone signal. Not the campground’s fault but just a heads up if one needs a good TMoble signal. Otherwise, an older campground that was VERY nice. In the woods by the lake. Very relaxing and our kind of place to spend some time.

It was a beautiful campsite with a great playground and mountain bike/hiking trails. The trash was picked up on a consistent basis. My only complaint was the spiders in the shower area. I know creepy crawlies love humidity but I could do without! Our family will definitely be back!

I would give this campground 5 stars IF we could have seen a Ranger, Camp Host, or anyone to provide a map, trails info, and advice. But everything was closed down, we never saw a person or a vehicle at the camp host site, and there were no handouts available. We fumbled around and missed some opportunities we learned about only after leaving.
Otherwise, the COE has done a terrific job siting campsites to maximize the lake views. We camped at site 59D. It was level, gravel, 50 amp and water (pressure ok). Most COE campsite do not have sewer, especially on lakeshores, there was a large dump station on the way out. You need to reserve online, which will specify, by site how long your RV can be. Ours said 35' we were able to park the truck sideways in front of our 35' 5ver. Concrete picnic table on slab, BBQ grill, and campfire ring near the table and away from the RV. Trees provided full shade to the campground, but were thinned out, along with ground scrub, to provide lake views. (We camped at the end of summer, and our neighbors said the lake was very low.) Quiet, peaceful place. Lake Ouachita is one of the top 10 cleanest lakes in the US. If you have a boat you might want to camp closer to the ramp. Roads in and out were easy with a big rig, all paved. We are 13'6" and brushed tree leaves once, so if no one was oncoming we used the middle of the road. We have stayed at this pretty lake three times (commercial resort and state park), and our fav campsite is at the COE.
