What Guests Are Saying
Prairie Creek offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience, with clean facilities and a lovely location by Beaver Lake, perfect for outdoor activities like boating and hiking. Many visitors appreciated the spacious sites, helpful staff, and the amenities available, including a marina and restaurant. However, some campers noted issues with poorly marked trails, uneven sites, and maintenance concerns, particularly with exposed hazards and cleanliness. Overall, it remains a favored destination for many.

Love the space between campsites. Water had the worst sulfer smell... had to run it completely out of the camper. Took awhile yet this campsite was great!!!

Lots of trees; most sites are well-shaded. Area is broken up into different areas so you can choose to be near playground, shower, toilets or far away from them. Photos on website do not accurately show how flat or angled the sites are, so you might want to call the caretaker for advise. Website is a bit confusing regarding water. The description of the sites says water and electric, but there is a note at the bottom of the page that makes you believe there is not a dedicated water source at each site. This is incorrect. Each site has its own dedicated water hookup. The caretakers are very friendly and go out of their way to help. I had a water issue with my motorhome, and the gentleman spent quite a bit of time with me trying to figure out the issue. He made a suggestion that was spot on, and fixed the issue.

This campground needs more staff/surveillance, handier waste disposal, improved signage. No onsite attendants while we were there. When we arrived, no one at gate either mid day. We couldn't see any signs to our specific campsite #65, and overshot the road to it ending at a deadend where we couldn't turn around in our RV with a towed car. Had just enough room to unload the car. Why the road didn't continue on or have a loop is a problem in a campground. Trash was everywhere along the waterfront. Waste bins were inconveniently located. No trash barrels. TV reception was nil at our spot probably because we were downhill. There was a party on May 9 with very loud music for several hours at the large shelter near us. We saw occasional park rangers and sheriff's vehicles cruise the park, but I didn't see them that day. Fortunately my husband and I liked the music, so it didn't bother us. Had it been hard rock with lots of alcohol and bad language it would have been a different story. The swimming area was open and some kids were enjoying it. Nice playgrounds and plenty of toilets, none of which we used. The campground is real close to Rogers, which is handy. We really liked Jaclyn's Restaurant for breakfast, almost walkable from the campground. Still, I am thankful the corps of engineers provides such reasonably priced campgrounds in the great outdoors. Most camp sites have their own water access. The notice of shared spigots is misleading.

We tried contacting the park with questions before our arrival, but we couldn't get anyone. After arriving at the park mid-week, we would have like to have been able to change sites. Ours wasn't as long as we prefer and our friend's was very unlevel. A camper nearby was using inappropriate language, and again, no one to help. The park itself is gorgeous and facilities were clean and well-maintained.
