What Guests Are Saying
White Rock Mountain Recreation Area offers an incredible location with stunning views of the Boston mountains and well-maintained rustic cabins. The friendly and helpful staff, particularly the camp hosts, contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, making it a peaceful retreat for visitors. While access involves a challenging gravel road, the overall experience, including the clean facilities and beautiful hiking trails, makes it well worth the journey.

Really loved staying in Cabin C! The photos didn't do the place justice, a gorgeous interior with an amazing view of the valley. I had been doing a lot of solo traveling/camping which made the fully furnished kitchen such a nice touch. Being able to cook myself a quality meal then eat it while watching the sunrise/sunset over the valley was a perfect way to start and end the day. Would highly recommend staying here.
It's fairly close to a lot of gorgeous hiking spots and just down below is another recreation park which has a lake for canoeing and some more campsites.
I would like to note that the roads into the recreation center are at least 30 minutes of straight gravel up the mountain. They are fairly well kept but it took me about 30 minutes to drive a little less than 5 miles. That being said, the roads were in good shape and easy to drive on. Bring a cooler for food you may want to prepare as the nearest store is a good 1 hour away.

Our family of 5 absolutely LOVED our trip to White Rock Mountain! We were in camping spot #9 which had a beautiful view and the hosts (Jamie and Mary) were so helpful and kind! The views from the observation point were breathtaking and just driving up or down the mountain was an experience on its own. Our kids asked if we can come back every year!

It was beautiful but I had a copperhead slither across my foot. Tree maintenance equipment had the snakes running for cover. They also woke everyone up. We picked a bad time to visit.

I'm at a bit of a loss on how to review this campground so bear with me. This was my second year in a row coming here with friends. Overall we had a fantastic time. The hosts are incredibly nice and willing to work with you on any concerns. The views are spectacular, it was safe during Covid because there aren't many campgrounds, and it is in the middle of nowhere which I love. We drove down to the mulberry river to swim and fish and we had an incredible day. HOWEVER, it is important to note, the group campsite has a copperhead infestation. We threw rocks to scare off at least 10 copperheads. One of my friends ended up stepping on one in the dark and got bitten. We rushed him to the closest hospital (1 hour away) and he is now fine. I think there must be a nest near the group campsite because we didn't see snakes anywhere else in the campground. I think if they bring in an exterminator or something to clear out the area around the group site that would be great if it's possible. Don't let this review scare you from coming though, there are no snakes near any of the other sites. You can tell this campground is amazing because one of my friends got bit by a copperhead and I'm still giving it 5 stars and I'd still be willing to return next year and he probably would too. I don't want to scare people away from this campground but I felt I needed to mention it because in all my research of this area I've never seen them mentioned at all. In other things, this campground has the cleanest vault toilets I've ever seen. In addition the spigots put out water that tastes better than the stuff that comes out of my fridge at home. I took a poll after the trip and all my friends said they had fun and would come back again. I had a great time both times I've come here and couldn't recommend it more. Make White Rock Mountain your next adventure, and you won't be disappointed.
