What Guests Are Saying
Convict Lake Campground offers a stunning location with beautiful views, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, making it an ideal spot for both short stopovers and extended stays. The campground is well-maintained, with daily bathroom cleaning and convenient amenities like firewood sales and a nearby store. However, many sites lack shade and privacy, and bear encounters can be an issue, particularly for campers with food safety concerns. Overall, visitors appreciate the serene environment and recreational opportunities available in this picturesque area.

What can we say? Our first time at Convict Lake was absolutely breathtaking—we’re already planning our next trip back! We stayed at Campsite #2, which is right next to the host. It felt tucked away from the other campsites, making it a perfect choice if you prefer peace and quiet at night. The outhouse was just a short walk away and very clean, which we really appreciated. The camp hosts were friendly and welcoming. One of the best parts of Campsite #2 was how close it was to the lake—it made morning and evening walks so easy and beautiful. Overall, we had an amazing experience and can’t wait to come back to try out other campsites!

Great campspot. We liked being located near the resort store to access coffee, snacks, showers. The bathrooms were very clean. Most sites do not have much shade. Take a walk along the creek for the best experience.

We had a great time hiking, fishing, and hanging out. My daughter even celebrated her birthday there. We ended up with three sites, one reserved in advance, and two more we were able to get on a first-come, first-served basis on a Sunday. The camp hosts are some of the most genuine, good-hearted people you could ever meet. We will always go back to Convict Lake, it always feels like home

Great views, excellent fishing, nice getaway from the summer heat. We camped in a Travel trailer and had a great time. However, there’s always one bad apple that can put a damper on a great trip. Neighbor would turn on truck and headlight for extended periods of time at night. The problem was the light shined right at our camp fire. Same neighbor decides we all would like to hear club music during the day. I thought we could escape the city life for a few days… guess not completely.

What a beautiful campground!! I feel like any of the campsites will have an amazing view. We had the privilege to be at campsite 002 which is near the main entrance next to the camp manager. The campsite was well maintained and clean and most importantly quite. There is lots to do at this campground like fishing, kayaking, swimming and hiking but we decided to go out to mammoth lakes which is only 25 mins north from the campground. I recommend going to mammoth and take a $15 shuttle ride to the devils post pile national monument. Its a great hike and if possible go to rainbow falls which is only another mile 1 1/2 miles away from the devils post pile. so don't lose your ticket. Everything about this trip was amazing and i highly recommend this campground.

Flush toilets and clean bathrooms, walking distance to lake which has nice walking path with select picnic tables and beach access for swimming and fishing. Site were on the smaller size, nice tent pads but very exposed and hot. Access to resort which does have pay-for showers, restuarant and small general store on site. Small lot by lake fills up early but plenty of overflow parking at front of campsite.

Overall campground was fine, restrooms were clean and stocked. Very little shade anywhere, only a few sites have any real shade, and when I was there it was 90deg. There was a wedding at the resort one of the days and the music could be heard quite loud until 10pm which kind of disturbed the out in nature part of camping.
