One of the best campgrounds in the Mammoth area. The place is always so well maintained. Restrooms are ALWAYS clean and stocked (unlike the ones at the lake). All the camp hosts are extremely friendly and helpful especially Dennis. It’s my go to campground to stay when I’m up at the Eastern Sierra’s fishing because I can get to so many other lakes and areas without having to drive too far and you’re just 12 minutes away from downtown Mammoth.

We were in site 53, directly on Convict Creek. The view of the mountains was beautiful. It was very quiet at night. During the day there was some road noise from the main road into the area. The camp hosts were great and kept the restrooms very clean. Definitely recommend staying. We used it as a base to explore the area.

Very nice place except for cars driving above the speed limit within the campground. Made me very nervous to let my kids ride around in their bikes.

Excellent campground and friendly campers. The hike around the lake is beautiful. The Hot Springs on the other side of Mammoth airport are fantastic. The geology of the mountains with the colors and folding is something you don't see anywhere else. Mammoth is close by with free trolley rides and a fantastic recreation center for kids.

Campground is nice the setting is beautiful, it’s nice the resort has showers available next door. The campground host over our area was the rudest, most unpleasant and most unprofessional campground host I’ve ever met and has zero people skills. The campground host for the entrance was pleasant making me wish I never choose the spot I did, it got so unpleasant after he was cussing under his breath and straight up lying to my wife, she wanted leave a day early after all our interactions with this not a gentleman. Definitely the worst experience I’ve ever had at this campground and I may not ever return to a place I love going to several times a year.

Convict Lake Campground is about 34 mi north of Bishop, California on Highway 395. From Bishop, travel north on 395. The turnoff to the campground is across from Mammoth Yosemite Airport and is well-signed. From Mammoth Lakes, travel on Highway 395 south for 5 mi. Turn west off of Highway 395.

General
- No electricity, water or sewer site hookups
- Reservations are site-specific. Changing campsites after arrival is prohibited
- No ATVs or ORVs allowed in the facility
- Convict Lake is a no-wake lake
- Generators allowed only during non-quiet hours; three-hour maximum run time and must be attended while running
- Day use parking is adjacent to the campground
- Two dogs are allowed and must be leashed
- This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations; campground usually not clear of snow until late May or early June
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of site in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating; always keep a clean camp and do not feed any wild animals
- Please Note: One RV with tow vehicle per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- Reserved Sites will be held until the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests. Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
