I had site 21. Was right next to the entrance, camp host, and the bathrooms.
Overall was a pretty great stay! I didn’t really do any hikes in the vicinity so I can’t comment on that, but I did get to explore the campgrounds a bit. This place is not too packed as there are only about 40 sites, which I really enjoyed. Everyone is kinda spread out and doing their own thing, and the bathrooms are clean!!
The host does regular patrols, and I felt safe the whole time. There are a lot of bees buzzing around at the top of the tree at site 21, so if you are allergic, be careful!
I gave this place 4/5 stars because I feel like there just wasnt a whole lot to do. But if youre willing to drive out or just want a place to camp, this is perfect :)

Great stay! Our site was at the entrance of the campground but We loved it. It seemed more spaced out than the other campsites. And we were close to the host just in case we needed anything!

We had a decent time out in nature at lot 32, the camp host were were very sarcastic and condescending with a smile, very concerned with the open spaces were there were no campers. We camped during the week, because we knew we would pretty much have the area to ourselves. Be sure not to attemp to heat your solar shower where you see sun in a vacant lot, they will move your stuff without your permission simply because they have nothing else better to do. Do buy your wood from the nice guy thats near camp site 26, you will get a whole barrell of wood for 10 bucks as opposed to the small bundle for 8 sold by the host. No cell service but if you have a mifi you can use any of your phone apps for communication..i.e. whatsapp or messenger.

There were others in my spot which I had reserved. Had to sleep in my car the first night then had to pay a friend to allow me to stay the 2nd night. I took pictures of thr spot with car and people at my location reserved. Had no phone number to call to claim.

This is a great little campground. Not fancy, but it has everything you need, it's off the beaten path and quiet, and you're surrounded by big trees and chirping birds. If you do need supplies there is a market not far away, and if it's hot you can swim in the lake nearby as well. I stayed on weekdays which were quite quiet as well. The campground hosts are very friendly. This is my one of my favorite little city getaways.

Nice quiet campsite. Facilities were clean and well maintained. GVL is off the beaten path, so don’t come here looking for nightlife. Rather, experience a little hidden bit of wilderness located within a 2 hour drive for 10 million people which still persists. We walked for 2 hours from the back of the campground and did not see another human.
