The campground is pretty, the hosts were friendly and helpful, and the reservoir is close and lovely.
We enjoyed the refreshing reservoir and hiked to the river, which was beautiful. We saw ducks, deer, and lots of birds. The host recommended driving up Chipmunk Ridge and we’re glad we did. The view is spectacular!

The bathroom situation was less than adequate. The portable toilets were way past needing to be emptied.
That was about it. There was a group that took way too long to leave their site. 2:30 and the new people had to wait. They should not be allowed back to any campground. Other than those things, it was fine.

The lake was the perfect temperature for swimming although the appraise is mostly rocky and stumpy. The middle fork of the American River is above the lake and is explorable. Nice conifer campground with bathrooms and portapottys.

This beautiful campground was a pleasant surprise: Campsites are well located close to the lake, vault and flush toilets were clean, lake was a bit windy at times and the roads in and out are a bit narrow but we managed with our car and 25' trailer. If the lake is too windy, take a drive up to the creek/American River feeding into the lake, park safely on the roadside and walk down to a small beach area that is sheltered on the river. Beautiful area!

If the lake is too windy, take a drive up to the creek/American River feeding into the lake, park safely on the roadside and walk down to a small beach area that is sheltered on the river. Beautiful area!

High clearance vehicles may take Foresthill Rd to the 43 Rd (Robinson Flat Rd) to Mosquito Ridge Rd, snow permitting. Access from Soda Springs and the 43 Rd is not recommoned to trucks with trailers, motorhomes/RV's or passenger vehicles that are not high clearance vehicle with four wheel drive.
The campground is on the south shore.
The nearest major road access is via Foresthill Rd and Mosquito Ridge Rd, but there are no interstates or major highways within 25 miles of the campground.

Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
