It felt almost impossible to get to Cherry Valley—about an hour and a half drive from the nearest town with no cell service on narrow winding roads with steep drop offs. While the scenery was beautiful, it was not worth the anxiety of navigating to get there.

Very pretty area. There is a .25 mile trail leading to cherry lake from the campground. Most of the sites on the main loop don’t have much privacy between them, but facilities are nice. Bathrooms are very clean. Water spigots are available throughout the campground, but due to a drought, the only one currently running is at the front of the campground. Highly recommend making a day trip to the hetch hetchy reservoir.

Beautiful, serene campground. If you camp on the western side of the campground you will hear the creek rushing at night-so peaceful! Looked like some of the campsites had views of the lake on the eastern side of the campground. Bathrooms were super clean. We were glad we brought a canopy, it got really hot in the campsite (site 9) during the day (first weekend of May). There is no walking path to the lake, but it’s just a short drive. Sat by the lake and watched bald eagles fly all afternoon. Even had a super cold dip-lake barely 50 degrees, if that. You need all-wheel drive to get over the damn and make it over to Lake Eleanor, heads up! We will definitely be back for another relaxing, quiet weekend someday.

So close to the lake, nice clean outhouses. Limited water but that's ok, what they had was super pure.

Not private camping by any means. Can hear other camps easily, some laughing and having fun until about 11pm, not crazy at all just people enjoying themselves *so it was ok with us* but if you want silence in the pines this may not be it for you.
