We come to Sherwin Creek at least once a year. It is close to Mammoth Lakes, which is a very comfortable town with a great ambiance, while being far enough outside of town that you feel you are many miles from civilization. We get local wildlife coming through our camp each trip. The campsites are far enough apart that we get our privacy, while also having neighbors close enough to have a sense of camping community.

This campground is awesome...and usually available...compared to the ones on the lakes. A true gem -- quiet, family friendly, respectful campers, and more...what can i say -- go here to get a real camp experience and stay clear of the more densely packed campgrounds and default crowds at the "easier" finds. The camp hosts (including Michael) are very responsive, communicative, and run a great experience -- he even texted me to to clear some things up after I arrived. I'm a multiple year returnee that loves this as my close-to-town jumping off point for my high-country fishing adventures. Plus VONs, Starbucks, great restaurants and services are a mile away...but don't feel like it.

Relaxed campground that does not feel as close to town as it actually is. Lovely forest and decent spacing between sites. Many sites are not as level as indicated.

The camp hosts have been amazing. PHIL, Judy, Mike, and Rebecca. Being the first persons of the season, it was nice to see the sites so clean. As always the bathrooms are spotless. I have been coming to this camp ground for 35 years. It is always our 2 week stay each year.

As a solo female traveler with my Golden Retriever, I felt safe, comfortable, and genuinely welcomed throughout my stay. The camp manager, Reuben, was incredibly friendly and made me feel right at home. He gave me a map of places to check out with my dog! We were lucky that barely anyone was there and it was awesome!! One thing to note is that there is I could kinda hear the road, but honestly, I was too distracted reading or playing with my dog that I barely noticed! I had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to come back—next time with friends!

This is a lovely campground. Beautiful, quiet. Close to town but feels out in the middle of no where. Walking distance to Sherwin Lakes trail. The camp hosts where very nice and helpful. We were there with a big group of 12 for Memorial Day weekend and had a wonderful experience. Vault toilets only and no sinks which didn’t bother us at all but good to know before hand.

Take U.S. Highway 395 to State Highway 203 to Mammoth Lakes. Take a left at the first traffic light in town onto Old Mammoth Road. Drive south 0.9 miles to Sherwin Creek Road. Turn left and proceed 1.5 miles to the campground.
Sherwin Creek is accessible via US Highway 395, which is approximately 13 miles to the east. From US 395, drivers can reach Mammoth Lakes and the campground via State Route 203.

General
- Access is via 1.5 miles on a two-lane gravel road
- Campground usually not clear of snow until late May or early June
- Campers bringing off-road vehicles must see the campground host regarding rules
- This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating; always keep a clean camp and do not feed any wild animals
- No electric hookups and no showers
- Only 2 pets per site allowed.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed. For current fire conditions or weather closures contact the Mammoth Lakes Visitor Center, (760) 924-5500, or the Mono Lakes Visitor Center, (760) 647-3044.
- Please Note: One RV with tow per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Some sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. In accordance with standard industry practices, Inyo Recreation will assess an additional $10.00 extra vehicle fee per day for the second vehicle in each single family campsite, and on the third and fourth vehicle in any double family campsite, provided these vehicles are not joined to the first vehicle by a hitch and towed onto the site. In the case of motorcycles, the first two are considered one vehicle, and the third and fourth motorcycle are also considered one vehicle. No additional vehicle fees are collected for bicycles.
- Reserved Sites will be held until the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of the second day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests. Please call the office at 760-934-5795 if you need to inform the campground of an arrival time greater than 24 hours after your arrival date, or if you will not use your reservation whatsoever.
- Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.

- PASS DISCOUNTS: You must provide your pass and photo identification upon check in. If you received a pass discount for which you were not eligible, you must pay the difference in price upon arrival.
