This was my first experience at Lassen Volcanic and I was pleasantly surprised. The accommodations were bare minimum, but clean and cared for nonetheless. I will certainly look forward to a future visit.

We stayed at Summit Lake South (loop c) for a 1 night getaway from San Francisco in Late July!
This was one of the most beautiful campgrounds I have been too. Nestled under big shady trees right on a small lake, it was very picturesque. There are potable water faucets in between all of the campsites and the toilets were pretty clean. Bear box, table and fire-pit with grate were all provided as well.
You are able to swim in the lake which was great because there are no showers :) and there is a nice trail around the lake for that leads to some larger hikes.
Nights do get cold so bring some extra firewood!
Overall I would recommend and would stay here again!

Had a wonderful stay. Our hosts were super welcoming and friendly, while also being very informative of camp rules and expectations. My one minor gripe is that even though the campsites are “limit 6,” it seems children are “unlimited.” A small neighboring campsite had 6-8 younger children who were up at very early morning hours, which is not necessarily reflective of the park or campground.
Facilities were decent. Bathrooms were a bit smelly, but clean overall. The campsite was beautiful, clean, peaceful, & relaxing (note: children exception). We will definitely be back!

Rangers stopped by and said hello and provided warning on the bear situation. Had no problems, the site was very clean, the bathrooms well kept up, had some cell service. All my neighbors were nice. I stayed in A05 and the site was pretty nice and felt private. Great experience and will come again.
