We had a wonderful time at the park hiking many trails & picnicking throughout the park
Covid 19 precautions prohibited the rental of kayaks on the lake, so bring your own.

Scenic sites right next to the lake, centrally located to main sections of the park, and the cleanest camp bathrooms I’ve ever seen (even loaded up with hand sanitizer!). Best camping experience we’ve had!

We were disappointed by several aspects of our campsites (C10 and C11 at Summit Lake South in Lassen Volcanic National Park). They were rather small, somewhat exposed, half covered with coarse mulch that makes for an uncomfortable place to stake a tent, and worst of all, they were quite sloped, so it was difficult to find good spots to pitch our tents. How hard would it be to grade the sites so that there are level areas suitable for tents? Everyone in our party felt let down by this, and person slept in her car. The sites weren't horrible; there was a fire ring, the water spigot nearby worked, and the adjacent restrooms only occasionally smelled bad. But we don't feel we got our money's worth.

Amazing campground, pit toilets were clean, running water and dumpsters available close to the toilets. Spacious spot and amazing location as it is 5 mins walk from the lake
