The original site (65) I planned on using ended up being on a one way road and I planned to back in but could not. Therefore, pay attention to the road directions when planning your trip. Also If you have not been there make sure to use the topo layer on the map. There are some high hills. I was able to change my site by calling but that would not have been possible if it were a busy time of the year. Great place to camp lake was low because it was October.

We stay at Buckhorn for overnight when on road trips between Oregon and California. Usually there mid week and camp ground is fairly empty and quiet. We only stay at one of the 22 paved sites so can't comment on others. This stay there was little moon and clear sky and lots of stars and a bit of the Milky Way was visible. Spectacular.

This is a great fall, winter and spring lake. The weather is great and not too hot then. Campground is usually not full. We kayak and fish or bring our patio boat. We camp in our camper looking out at our boats nearby. We come 1-2 times a month.

late in the season is a really nice time to visit Buckhorn Campground. Not many people, so good sites are available and plenty of space between campers. The lake is great for fishing,

We had a nice getaway to Buckhorn Campground. It was off season so it was nice and quiet. Stargazing at night was awesome. We saw a StarLink go across the night sky which was great to see. We will definitely go back again.

We had a great time. Was nice early day hot but wind. So canapies are good idea especially for down by water. Later in afternoon and night was hot and miserable so if you have a battery fan for tent it's advised. But the water is warm and nice. Really liked our camp spot. Kids loved it.
