We picked up the trash from both our campsites left behind by other campers. Toilets and showers were disgusting and never cleaned. Rusting, pests, clumps of hair everywhere. Both men and women's areas need a lot of cleaning. Rangers are nice enough to announce why they are in your site. They just check to make sure that you are not parking your rv or trailer incorrectly. The amount of bugs were excessive, that's because of the heat and how close the sites are to the water. Still worth a visit on site 30 & 40. These are the best sites but a lot of bugs.

Awesome campsite close to the lake. Well maintained facilities and clean bathrooms. I'll go back for sure.

Pros: Nice, spacious site with a beautiful view. Cons: Poor campground etiquette of other guests (loud music, loud guests talking late into the night and early morning, bright lights from bikes at night, and the fire rings needs to be cleaned regularly).

I decided to give this new camp spot a shot as a first time place to bring my daughter camping. The location is wonderful and our spot was on the water. My friends and our kids had a blast. Only thing I’ll say is the lake has a lot of debris in it. Naturally occurring but it causes it to be one of the dirtier lakes I’ve gone in. Other than that it was a blast and we would return.

My group reserved lots 1, 2, 3, and 16. Lot 1 was the best out of the 4. It's nice and big and has a great view of the lake. It also has a lot of shade and was very big. We liked that it had a shortcut to go fishing and to use the solo bathroom/showers. Lot 3 was the smallest and had 0 shade. We used it just for parking. Lots 2 and 16 are next to each other and great to get together if you have a big group. It had nice shade and great parking. The camping bathroom/showers are not ideal. I do recommend the solo bathroom/showers as they are cleaner. Bug zappers are a must for nighttime. I suggest bringing pepper to sprinkle on the ground to detour ants. I had my furbabies with me and used pepper around their bed so ants wouldn't crawl on it. The daytime lake area is far from the camp site. I recommend driving. Bring your fishing gear. Lots of fish.

The rec area camping was very well maintained. The park ranger came by regularly throughout the day. The shower in one bathroom near our camp was not working. And as soon as they were notified, they had it fixed. All of these sites are far enough apart to still enjoy your privacy. We'll definitely camp here again.

Had a great Memorial Day weekend at Buckhorn. Only drawback was the lack of showers available. Thanks for a great experience.
