The lake was more of swamp (think very low water level, overgrown with plenty mosquitoes), no bathrooms with running water and loud late night activities of people next to us made this less than a good experience. Location is very remote, not sure if I would do it again.

Pros:
• spacious
•beautiful
• inexpensive
•water is a bonus
• great parking spot (depends on the section)
• clean toilets

Cons:
• no cell signal
• bushy (bad for possible bears)
•vault toilets
• no bear box
• no showers

When my husband and I went to visit this July 2020, it was a weekend and there were lots of people around, so it felt safe. However, once everyone left, it felt pretty desolate and specially creepy without cell signal. Also, bears might go there because we noticed some people were not careful with their food and some left food out on their tables at night. If you want to be safe, bring your own bear proof cooler, or hang your food. Also there’s no showers, so we suggest bringing a privacy or shower tent. To prevent COVID 19 exposure, we brought our own toilet and used the privacy tent for that, but the restrooms were pretty clean. If you decide to go for this option, PLEASE make sure to dispose of your waste appropriately. Don’t ruin it for the rest of us.
About the lake, we didn’t get in because it didn’t seem a good place to swim in as there were a lot of plants that made it look inaccessible, however, the place was excellent for canoeing.

Great, isolated campsite located right on the lake. Lake itself is full of life. Bring a boat of any kind, or you will be disappointed you didn't! Campsite is shaded yet warm during the day, cool/cold at night (mid-Jun). Weather was sunny with no clouds entire trip. We stayed at site 13, classified a prime spot, which overlooks the lake and is private. Toilets were plentiful, clean and regularly checked. Running water taps are usually also located outside the toilets, as well as separated garbage disposal. Each site has a fire ring and a picnic bench table; there are no bear food storage lockers. Expect a very long and windy trip up, but you don't encounter much, if any, traffic. Make sure you bring everything you need, you can't just pop down the shops. There is absolutely no signal within an hour of the campsite, so make sure you cache a map or bring a physical one. Google maps does not have the roads mapped correctly, Apple Maps does. There is only one signpost for fish lake before you reach the site.

There is no camp host. No Forest Service patrol. Curfew is not enforced. The day use area is abused. People drive vehicles past gate into no vehicle zone. Half burned trash is left in the fire rings for the next user to deal with. Forest Service has dropped the ball on what used to be a fantastic campground.

Great spot for tent camping. Remote location with few amenities - which is what we wanted. Large sites with plent of privacy. Nice hiking trail around the lake. Unfortunately, there is a fungus which is killing many of the trees., but the area remains beautiful. Some bear sightings but no problems. Overall -a very nice area for serious campers.

Excellent campground. Quiet. Clean. Nice fire pits. Good fishing. There was an awesome Osprey bird that swooped down and caught trout each morning. Very fascinating to sit and watch. Also heard a big scary cat screaming (mating calls?) for a good while at night - keep your pups on a leash so they don't become a snack.
