What Guests Are Saying
Hayward Flat Campground offers a beautiful setting with stunning lake views and clean, well-kept campsites, making it a great destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Many visitors enjoyed kayaking and appreciated the peaceful atmosphere, with some noting the campground's proximity to trails. However, there were concerns about restroom cleanliness and maintenance, as well as issues with overcrowding and bee activity. Overall, while there are areas for improvement, many campers expressed a desire to return for the natural beauty and recreational opportunities.

We have been coming to Lake Trinity, Hayward Flat, for at least 40 years. This year the lake was down 50+ feet but that varies with rainfall. The company managing the campgrounds does a pretty good job. We love the lake and the 2 major campgrounds. It feels like home. One suggestion is that as lower lake levels are becoming more the norm, the forest service should really improve the Minersville Ramp. It is very challenging compared to the other ramps, which unfortunately come out of the water at 50 feet down. Mysteriously to me the other end of the lake at Trinity Center, which is a very small town and no campgrounds, has just had their ramp improved to two concrete lanes to 70 feet down and a 200 car parking lot. It would make sense to improve Minersville which is where the 2 large campgrounds are and closer to Weaverville which has restaurants, a nice grocery store, etc. Thank you.

We have been coming to trinity for 30 years . We are constantly upset with the condition of the ramps.in tanerry the build a new ramp that exits the water at 40ft and elevated it to eliminate trailer parking without providing parking in the campground. The only ramp this year and
Many others was minersville that is 70ft down the extended it but it is atrocious the paved part is only on the extension and the turn around is rocks and rubble they did not even blade it while investing
In 70 ft ramp at trinity center ! Where is their thinking any one that camps knows that is an impossible distance to launch from campsites

I have been vacationing at Hayward Flat for the last 41 years. I have watched the campground steadily decline each year. This year the water was sometimes on and sometimes off (no toilets). The garbage was pickup was at such a horrific state it seemed as though we were living at a homeless camp. This not only a bear attractant it is a serious health concern. The flies loved it and reproduced rapidly. It is a shame the Forest Service has allowed this to happen at such a beautiful location. It would be nice if the lake level was maintained at a higher level so we don't have to traverse 200 yards of moon surface rocks to reach our boats.

2 stars off for a bit of trash left by the prior users of the campsite and hot summer daytime temperatures (due to the relatively low 2500' elevation). That aside, you get a spacious campsite, a dense canopy of pines in and around the area, and a great lake to swim/boat/etc in at walking distance.

The weekend we were there the toilets quit working.... and the garbage was a little out of control. And it was ridiculously hot on top of that. So we had a good experience I guess, just not as good as it could have been.
