What Guests Are Saying
Dinkey Creek offers a beautiful natural setting with excellent hiking opportunities and friendly camp hosts who provide helpful service. The campground is well-maintained, and many visitors appreciate the spacious campsites and clean facilities. However, issues such as the lack of functioning flush toilets and potable water have caused some inconveniences, alongside noise from generators and nearby campers. Overall, many families enjoy returning to this campground for its charm and the memorable experiences it provides.

The Sheriff , National Park Employees and the Forest Rangers are all on different sides, conflicting guidance was given regarding evacuation for the Basin fire 20 miles away . The sheriff told us to pack up and leave , the forest ranger on site in radio communications with the office in Prather said they were holding meetings to advise of the campsite on evacuation yet the ranger was called to leave the post not the campers , to be fair the National park camp employees were the only ones to get it right , Dinkey was not evacuating but only under a smoke warning . Yet how were we to know , there is no phone service or internet , so we ended up coming off the mountain and ending what would have been our family reunion to find out the closure area was below dinky creek road for all of July 2024 with the campground to remain open . Of course people should take precautions with forest fires and play it safe , so not to blame anybody in particular, unfortunately this are the current conditions of the sierra .

Awesome campground. The sites are hit or miss with shade. A lot of trees have been cut down so some of the pictures are not up to date. Bring pop ups and you’ll be fine.
The camp hosts are some of the best I’ve ever dealt with. We had a truck parked in our spot when we showed up.
We let the staff know and they took care of it right away. The store and showers at the entrance are a big plus.
We had a great time and will be coming back again.
Also there was no cell service at all.

Another year at Dinkey Creek in the book. This time we RSVP #17 which I consider the best spot I’ve stayed at. Spacious, good covering, perfect distance to both restrooms, level for our trailer.
Wife enjoyed stargazing at a clearing between the waterfall and general store.
