The reason you didn’t get 5 stars. The pay machines did not work. I had to pay online, an extra $8. That is ridiculous!!
Thank goodness for the Senior Lifetime pass

Clean bathrooms. Though it says coins are required for showers, we could still use the showers without coins. Not too crowded and the campgrounds are placed not too close to each other.

Trails were in great shape. Nobody was on any of the trails this weekend. Camp site was clean.

We were Over our Allowed amount of days. I can not believe how incredibly rude we were treated about this! I will never recommend this campground. We were demanded to leave. Then we were watched to hurry is up. On top of that the new occupants watched us

The campground was beautiful. Lots of wildlife after all the other campers left. The oaks provided sufficient shade for the site we were in. Plenty of parking. The bathroom with the pit toilets ran out of toilet paper one night but that got remedied the following day. Good view of the lake from some sites. Getting down to the lake was easy, too. The one moderately annoying/unsanitary thing that bothered my group was people bathing, washing their dogs, and cleaning dishes at the one spigot near our site. Please don't do that and fill a bowl or tub to do that at your own site to keep the water source clean.

Several other guests in the park were playing loud music, yelling, etc. until late in the night

Location was very good but size of parking area was smaller than described. I barely had room to park 24 ft trailer and my truck. Dump site and toilet facilities were great. Dumpsters were nearly full when we arrived on a Thursday and overflowing by Sunday.

Compared with the other campground at New Melones, this was rather disappointing. The campsites were poorly maintained with lots of weeds and rough areas and few flat spots for tents. The trails to walk-in sites were practically non-existent. We had a small trailer so that wasn't much of a problem, but the pull-in was right along the roadway, and difficult to access the picnic table and fire pit. Water spigots are scarce and difficult to reach. The one dumpster in the area where we were was practically overflowing and there was no recycling. The one positive was that the restroom was clean.
