This is my favorite campground. It’s typically very peaceful and quiet. I’m not sure if it was just the loop I stayed in, but it was very loud even past quiet hours. Neighbors running by our tent, neighbors keeping cars on all night, large loud groups…it was a bit disappointing. We talked to neighbors and hosts but it didn’t do too much. I will absolutely return because all of my other trips were always amazing! The bear activity was consistent and a neat experience to see. We kept things put away but they’d still wander through just in case and the kids really enjoyed it.
This campground gives spacious shaded sites, clean bathrooms, friendly hosts, if you get the opportunity, check it out.

I love Fallen Leaf Campground, but I won't choose this site again. The bathroom and shower facility next to this site has doors that slam unless folks are very careful to close them quietly, and there's a light on all night - not great for tent campers. If the campground isn't going to make the doors quieter, this should probably just be an RV-only site.

As for the site, this one had two clear spots for medium-sized tents... 1 was level and the other was mostly level. Not a good site for one of those huge family tents. Pretty good shade, some sites really get nailed in the afternoon but this one didn't. Close (but not too close) to 3 different bathrooms, 1 of which had showers. We were in the minority with tents in this campground section, it was mostly RV's, trailers, generators, etc. It's on the outer edge of the campground. Didn't see any bears this time. There were a couple of trees where a hammock with straps could have worked pretty well, BUT it would have blocked the path between the picnic table and bear box or something like that.
Regarding the campground in general, firewood and ice available from host but their hours aren't great so check. Plentiful water spigots (yellowjackets are no extra charge!) and, as always, there were idiots playing their bad music but wasn't too loud or late this time. Location is PERFECT with easy access to Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe. Less than 10 min drive to restaurants, stores etc., and Camp Richardson with restaurant, store, bike rentals, coffee shop, and ice cream joint is practically across the street. As for cell service, I have T-Mobile and my connection was good but not great. My wife's AT&T was somehow worse, even though they're on the same towers I believe.
